Hi.

Whats the benifit in being able to lock multiple targets? I only seem to be able to shoot 1 at a time, even with a thresher and 6 autocannons.

Cheers,

You can shoot multiple. If you don't group your guns that is. Generally not a great idea.

On the other hand, it's useful for people doing logistics as they often need to help multiple people. And being able to keep a whole bunch of people locked, removes the time to lock when you need to shift to someone else.

That applies for everything else, too. for a BS locking frigates, that's damn useful. you'll spend more time locking them, than blattering them out the sky.

Also very useful when flying Noctis to salvage - tractoring 5 wrecks while salvaging 3 and so on... But yeah, Targeting V (and Multitasking) can wait a while if you are just doing missions.

So assuming I have several targets locked, how do I direct modules to attack different targets rather then just 1?

The easiest way is to simply click the picture on your screen. You can also use the overview or try clicking them in actual space. You should see some spinning shapes around your active target. Then simply activate the module you want to use.

Doing this is really time inefficient:

1. Target.
2. Wait for lock.
3. Locked.
4. Shoot Target 1.

5. Target.
6. Wait for lock.
7. Locked.
8. Shoot Target 2.

Doing this is much better, as you can shoot constantly, even at smaller ships that take a long time to lock:

1. Target as much as you can.
2. Wait for lock.
3. Locked.
4. Shoot Target 1. After you destroy, lock target 7 .
5. Shoot Target 2. After you destroy, lock target 8.
6. Shoot Target 3. After you destroy, lock target 9.
7. Shoot Target 4. After you destroy, lock target 10.
8. Shoot Target 5. After you destroy, lock target 11.
9. Shoot Target 6. After you destroy, lock target 12.

Training Targeting and Multitasking skills increase the number of targets you can lock, up to the maximum of your ship (6 for Destroyers). There are modules that increase the number of targets (rarely used, as rarely are more targets needed). Signature Analysis skill reduce target lock time.

Use CTRL left-click on the overview to lock target (CTRL SHIFT left-click to unlock target).

Everything up to here is 100% correct. Default is CTRL-click to lock.
Unlock is "destroy the target" Twisted

Argh... I do it without thinking, so I'm not surprised I documented it wrong. Fixed.

CTRL left-click on the overview to lock target (CTRL SHIFT left-click to unlock target).

Thanks for pointing it out.

Unlock is handy when you accidentally lock a LCO instead of the ships around it (I tend to use brackets to lock targets).
