What skills do I need for these? I just got torn apart by the enemy ships. I have no combat skills at all but my drone skills are OK, whats the mininum I should go in there with? Drone wise I guess or otherwise?

What are you flying/mining with?

From what I recall a low skill mining ship with 2-3 drones (minimum skill on drones) should have no issue at all to clear the 2-3 frigates spawing in lvl 2 mining missions.

And dont even try to do a lvl 2 mining mission if you have incursion in the system, it will result in overwelming rats.

You could always go in there with a frigate and clear the initial rat spawn and then come back with the mining ship and hope you finish before any more turn up.

Once you are in the mission pocket and mining, remember to Align to a station and then come to a stop. It will reduce the time it takes to get out of there if attacked.

Remember that mining missions spawns are tied to the local belt rats, except for the drone spawns which are missions specific - so 0.0 mining missions can be a bitchhh. Mining cruisers with a solid tank should do fine for level 2's though.

Nitpicking but if your ship is stationary then no it wont make a lick of a difference. Stationary ships do not have a facing as far as the game mechanics go, visually it will point in the right direction BUT the game mechanics only care about that if your ship is actually in motion.

I'd suggest Amarr BS III, Drones V

and some sort of mining/fitting skills so that you can fit your apoc with 8 miners and as much cargo space as needed, an AB.
