Closing FW Missions

FW missions were designed to encourage PVP. They're more doable in PVP-fit ships and don't require as much time investment. However, in practice, PVP doesn't really happen in mission aside from ganks if the missionrunner isn't paying attention. They're effectively identical to standard missions in this respect, then.

The design flaw here is that there is no incentive for the missionrunner to defend his mission. He's already in an unfriendly situation - having to deal with at least one other player in addition to mission rat aggro. Most importantly, though, he loses nothing by being chased out of the mission. If he gets chased out and the mission is camped, he can just **** off and go run some other missions in different systems while he waits for the defenders to get bored.

Missionrunners should have an incentive to defend their missions and fight other players. This would indirectly also boost group FW missioning as it's easier to chase out a lone bomber than it is an entire fleet.

Put a beacon, much like the one in FW plexes, in each mission. If a hostile militia member sits on the beacon for some time (say 15 mins for a level 4 mission?) the mission is closed and he receives some LP/standing for compensation. Perhaps the standing loss for failing a mission then should be slightly decreased to compensate, but this may make standings worth thinking about rather than the current situation where, if you've been in FW for more than a week your faction standings are already sky high.

Not really. I wouldn't call 100 km Javelin bombers PvP ships, nor would I call 100MN AB Tengus PvP ships.

They are more doable in PvP-fit ships if people do them as a group, yes, but at that point they will engage anyway because running missions in a group is done for the PvP.

That said, there should be some reason for people to defend missions rather than just cloak up, bugger off, and run another mission. Maybe at that point people would actually start running some of the less than lv 4 missions, in order to seek PvP of their favorite ship level.

I said "Doable". I did NOT say that people did them in PVP-fit ships. Of course they don't do them in PVP-fit ships, because they don't intend to PVP. They intend to **** off if anyone shows up, which ...

is exactly the problem I am suggesting gets fixed.
