NPC agent with voice and/or cutscene

Greetings!

I think I have an idea that would increase the PVE immersion a lot.
I really like to do missions, but after a while you get to know the missions and it gets predictable. I personally then start to lose rpg feeling of really doing a job for the agent. The mission description I don't even read anymore (the storyline), just quickly look at the objectives and press accept because I already read them xx times.

Now what I love to see in EVE are agents that are much more alive and dynamic instead of the storyline text and the avatar pic of the agent. To increase the immersion and rpg feeling of being a pilot doing a job for the agent I think it would be cool if every mission had a cutscene where the agent sits in front of a camera talking to you with a dynamic background that fits the mission and you see it on a screen. So I mean with voice actors telling you the storyline (mission objective)with animated agent avatar and nice background. Also depending on the agent and the corp and even race they all have a different attitude and character, make them alive and really acting.

That for me would give me a much greater immersion in doing the missions and actually having a job and reputation with the corp and agents.

That would be a whole lot of work and a lot of wasted bandwidth on something everyone will skip.

Well the cutscene idea would be great (I would watch it!) and it gets you into the story and the EVE reality more. I would also settle for just the voice thats played with some good voice actors, that would make a big difference already. Sure a lot of people would skip it or mute the voice, but a lot of them would not. Especially for the new(er) players it would get them into the EVE reality more and the story with races and factions and their relations etcetera.

Everyone who's currently skipping the mission screen beyond checking the name and the variant (rat faction) will, and they'll do it for the same reason they do now: because they've read/heard it all before and already know there's nothing else of any relevance there. There is no story to convey — it's just flavour text without any real meaning.

Now consider how many missions there are and how many agents there are to deliver the descriptions to all of those. Then consider how much work additional work will be required any time they want to add something new and how much it will bload the download. And again, all for something that people will watch once (at most) and then ignore.

The only way to make it work would be to make it awful: voice synth and unscripted/contextless animation. Even then, the amount of work would be silly for something as meaningless.

Sure, it would be neat…ish… but it's just not worth the effort.
