I've read a bunch on all the Proteus threads that have come out recently. One point that usually comes up is to just switch to an Ishtar for more efficient reasons. So I'm skilling up for this one, what fits would you recommend?

I'd recommend a fit that the OP actually initially suggests, so that the rest of the community has something to work with and doesn't make him look like a lazy arse

Oh I will once I get home. I'm posting from my phone, not ideal for posting a fit. I hope you understand :-)

Here is my do-it-all combat exploration Ishtar. Intended for low sec plexing (hence mwd, cloak and EC-600). Small guns are merely for tackle frigs and getting agro. You can tank and kite all sorts of heavy NPC damage with this while the sentries chew things up.

If you are asking for L4's then I strongly suggest a Dominix over the Ishtar if you're going the Gallente drone route.

For level 4s, 2 sentry damage rigs and 2 omni tracking links are a must in my opinion.

Garde II x5

^this does 538 DPS @ ~40km, + small auto's to deal with close orbiting frigs.

For complexes 1 or both rigs can be swapped out to increase tank, frees up some CPU for other stuff too.

I've used this fit (with different highs - a dinky small laser for aggro, tractors and salvagers) to AFK Angel, Serpentis and Guristas missions. 5x light 5x heavy 5x sentry rat-flavored drones, swap the shield hardener to taste. You can use an amp for a completely passive fit, though I still managed to lose one on a Blood mission due to neuting.

Grab aggro, sentry/light the frigates, release heavy drones, orbit the next gate or an LCO... go do something else for a bit.

The PST Ishtar is a fantastic AFK boat. If you want to actually FLY the ship, an armor tank is much more seat-of-the-pants.

dual prop, t2 sentries and 2x sentry damage augmentors are all essential to maximize tank and dps.
