So i signed up for the Beta and i can`t wait for the fun to start..:)

BTW here is a link to massively with their newest article regarding Dust:
http://massively.joystiq.com/2012/01/01/eve-evolved-all-there-is-to-know-about-dust-514/

Personally i think it was an incredibly stupid move by Microsoft to refuse Dust514 on Xbox. It would be nice to see the game succeed just to stick it to Xbox Live draconian rules..

MY QUESTION THOUGH:

Will the introduction of Dust 514 this summer be accompanied by more station enviromnents for the avatars?
Specifically i`m wondering about the corporate offices and other stuff we`ve seen working demos of..

I`ve read that EVE players might be able to watch ground fighting on in-game screens to monitor what is going on. I would think that this might be a feature for the war room in corporation HQ offices?

**Now i know alot of people hate the idea of avatars and station environments. Personally i love the idea and i`m quite interested in knowing what, if any, new station environments will be included with the introduction of DUST**

No, it would cause a lot of strain on the servers i would think. They should however allow us to watch the replays that the dusties at one point were said to be able to make and display in the war barges.

From what i`Ve been able to gather the actual Dust matches will be on entirely seperate server clusters located around the world in order to reduce lag. As such Dust matches will not draw on EVE server resources- when the dust match is done, all the relevant data will be transferred to EVE in order to update the database.

While Dust and Eve players are in the same universe- the actual matches are on seperate servers.

I`m not entirely sure how ground forces shooting at eve players and eve players shooting and ground forces are handled by the servers, but apparently this is already working in the current Beta.

So i would think a spectator function would not be that hard to implement.. I`m no computer genius though..

what i think will happen:
Only link we will have to Dust ,will be spreadsheets
Chances to SOV by dust ,will be sudden and only to follow through spreadsheets

The battle server will be in communication with the EVE server process that launched the match, providing a mechanism for air strikes and skyfire barrages.

With that link up, it would be easy to provide even more communication between the two games. For example, EVE players might be able to watch the battle in realtime from a monitor in a war room, giving orders to soldiers over voice chat or setting combat objectives mid-match using a battlefield-style commander system

Sounds like the two servers will be in constant communication, which is how orbital bombardments etc. will work, so it should be possible to get some kind of real time feedback on how the battle is going

Do not argue with an idiot. He will drag you down to his level and beat you with experience.

Sometimes when I post, I look at my sig and wish that I'd follow my own god damned advice.

I frequently get the impression in regards to opinions relating to PS3 exclusivity and interconnectivity, that most people haven`t actually read the articles about DUST514.

There is quite a bit of misinformation or at least misunderstandings flying around.

This doesn`t mean you`re wrong though. I`m quite interesting in knowing more about how we can keep track of the ground fighting and interact with the bunnies.

I`m hoping for alot more than spreadsheets...

Battlefield is way to simplistic with command functions. I really hope they look to MAG in regards to squad leader/Battlefield commander functions.

I personally cant wait for DUST, I think it has a big potential and I hope there are no real big lag issue with it in terms of EVE to PS3 playerbase communication.

My guess is that a WIS feature like you describe probably isn't in the works yet. But that would be high on my list of WIS features (which would be low on my list of lists), as it'd go in the right direction (actual gameplay/Dust514 link) rather than being merely space barbies.
