Let me preface this by saying that I do not actually want to see this implemented and am simply posting because I think it's an interesting idea worthy of discussion and exploration.

Having just read someone complaining about how cheap, convenient, powerful and easy to use titan bridges are I came up with this idea.

Create a new item called a Capital Cynosural Field Generator that can only be fit on to capital ships (Rorq, Carriers, Dreadnaughts and Super Caps). Then make this field the only one a titan bridge can lock onto.

One could make this more extreme and require a Capital Cynosural Field generator for any Super Capitals to bridge or jump.

While I don't think that kind of severe limitation should exist I do think that Jump bridges and maybe super capital jump drives should have a minute long activation time or so giving time to destroy a cyno before anything can make the jump. If the cyno is destroyed in that time the jump is aborted and some fractional ammount of jump fuel is wasted.

needs some polish, but might not necessarily be a bad idea.

One of the bitter points of a good bittervet is the realisation that all those SP don't really do much, and that the newbie is having much more fun with what little he has. - Tippia

Why? What would this solve?

It would prevent people from so easily dropping massive numbers of ships on people. Since the shear number of people usually dropped by jump bridges is unbeatable it would make the dropper have to show some of the force it possesses before sending the overwhelming force giving people some chance to escape.

the idea is not without merits, but if there is a chance of failure do you think people are still going to go about using it? maybe to turn 13 jumps to 3 (or some other, similar extent) for allies who normally don't have access to a jumpbridge network.

I like the idea of a warm-up time for bridging than a whole new module. Though the warm-up time would only be for the first ship, and probably be 30 seconds or less. Why such a small window? to encourage people to continue using jump bridges while giving the defenders a chance to take out the cyno. Thus will give both sides 30 intense seconds of fighting before (stuffing!) hits the fan.

No it wouldn't, it'd take tops a minute more. Drop carriers, light new cyno, bridge. Or, just blops bridge in recons or something. making travel annoying isn't going to solve anything.

I think a 30s spool up on all non-covert jump drives and bridges is more appropriate. I exempt BO's simply because they are supposed to be stealthy surprise ships. The covert cyno also only lasts 30s to start with on a recon, so giving them a 30s spool up would break the module.Lol

Fireworks and snowballs are great, but what I really want is a corpse launcher.

That WOULD be a very good exception, especially since the Black Ops have a limited fuel bay (which limits how many can go in a single shot) and have a short range to boot. Even with several blockade runners you'll still have to send in people via waves instead of insta-blob.

Edit: if this idea of mine actually takes off, I'd have expect the OP to rename the thread 'warm-up timer for jump bridges (damn you tank!)'. Probably not.
