Honestly if you can self destruct before they manage to gank you, then the gankers fail at life

The ultimate F-U in the face is to let your balls drop, fight your attacker, and kill them.

The best is self-destructing, waiting until you have ~15 seconds left, ejecting and warping your pod off. If you get away, in warp, the self destruct timer still flashes on your screen and you feel like 007, then you get the blinky insurance mail, pause, continue james bond theme.

Self destructing in the face of 99 percent chance of loss of ship is a valid thing to do. It prevents solo killers from getting huge killmail points after spending 15 mins to kill you.

At the core it encourages group play.
