would it be possible to get 'destroyer' sized mining and salvaging introduced to the game for Alphas? I was a subscriber but due to financial constraints I had to cancel, was excited to hear about the 'free-to-play' option. but I have skills I cannot use now...I was half way to Orca =( I know I'm probably gonna catch hel for this post...

I'm not sure what you mean by "destroyer-sized." Destroyers aren't mining ships; they don't have the CPU for it, and you'll likely get more yield from a Venture, while being able to take advantage of its 5000 m3 ore hold.

The Venture mining frigate is available to Alpha players. They also have access to an industrial to carry the ore around. Refineries have been nerfed to 50% yield, with the skills only adding about 2-10% more, meaning it's not really worth training them to 5, and you can do OK as an Alpha changing your ore to minerals if you want.

And destroyers are available to Alphas, as is the Salvager module. So you can definitely "mine and salvage" if you want.

It's just a matter of re-training some pre-requisite skills; CCP changed things around a while back, but show info on the ships you want to fly and you'll see what's required.

Alphas can mine an appropriate amount of materials to self build the ships they fly if they want to. They don't need more mining capacity.

considering that "cruiser size" is the top of the line for mining yield, at least as far as subcapitals go, that's quite a lot to ask for. Also: Which skills would you drop from an Alpha to make room for a "mining destroyer"? And the main question is not whether you think Alphas need another mining ship, but if the game needs one as a whole.

Uhh. You already can make basically any of the racial T1 turret destroyers a knock-off Noctis. A few salvagers and four or five tractor beams, a prop mod, a couple salvage tackle rigs and off you go. Just run it through a site like an industrial grade scrap vac after you've blown it up with your regular combat vessel.

Seriously running a salvage dessie through the wreck fields left behind by your faction cruiser or Gnosis is plenty effective for somebody in Alpha status.

I started playing two weeks ago, pay per month I don't like not going to make monthly payments sorry.

If I could I would buy the game for up to 50 or €100, could be an intermediate version more than Alpha and less than Omega , but this option does not exist not going to happens.

Frankly I have no illusions that I'm going to plex in game that Alpha account I don´t have knowledge to do this so probably
my alfa clone will be abandoned in time for lack of possibilities, It happened before I simply stop playing these free trails because I'm not going to rent anything and they don't sell the game , patience go ahead to play games tham I cam buy one time and some DLCs thats ok to me.

I can see conflict between accounts , of course the omega should be favored no doubt, but if the goal is to attract players alfha accounts is not attractive for me as new player ( It might be attractive for old players, get some advanteage I dont know) for me is too many restrictions, limitations and useless grind to go from 0 to 0.

EVE does not have the level progression that other MMO's have. In EVE, you "progress" your character by diversifying, you unlock more ships so you have more roles to pick from when you join a fleet, but ultimately all roles are equal powered. It's like, you unlock a mage for DPS then a rogue for DPS; your DPS doesn't increase, it just different flavors (different ships using different weapons but doing the same damage, basically).

So, because of this, the Alpha limitations are actually quite generous; you're not stopped at newbie level like in some other MMO's, you're actually allowed to join any fleets, and the ships you can unlock are balanced to be desirable by veterans too. The current flavor for the game is to fly cruiser ships, due to their mobility and versatility; even the veterans don't use the big battleships anymore, and capital ships are only brought out to destroy stations, as part of large scale wars.

You get access to Tech 2 (PVP grade) defenses, and although you don't get access to Tech 2 weapons, you can come close to their performance by using the loot drop "meta" grade weapons, which aren't too horribly expensive on the markets.

Alphas are prevented from doing industry manufacturing, or the passive materials collection that Planetary Industry offers, and the reason for that decision is that veterans like us can create an unlimited number of Alpha alts, and we'd destroy the economy if we were allowed to gather resources effortlessly with 1000 alts like that.

So that's where the Alpha system stands. I think it's quite fair.

I also think that your objections to it are cost-related, rather than feature-related, and ultimately this is an MMO, if you can't or don't want to pay the $9 - $14 / month fee (there are various discounts), then you'll be unable to pay ANY MMO's not just EVE, and will have to limit yourself to single-player or network-play games. And there are plenty of those to choose from, and we play them too, along with EVE - games are not mutually exclusive.
