Do drones no longer auto aggress an attacker?

I was testing some ECM's on my alt yesterday and his drones would not defend no matter what i tried. I figured it was just how ECM works.

Your drones must be out before you are aggressed for them to respond automatically. They must also not be set to passive.

At least that´s how it works with combat drones, and to my knowledge ECM drones follow similar scripting.

I´ve found that dropping drones after NPCs start shooting at me tends to result in higher chance of aggro switch to said drones, whereas if I drop them and then allow the NPC to aggro by entering their aggro range they tend to leave them alone.

Good to know for drone ratting and droneboats in general.

Drones are bugged right now and are NOT responding properly when the player is aggressed.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I always thought drones would never auto-aggress players. The reason for this is that this would then automatically create a limited engagement, allowing the other player to kill your pod without an additional security hit. If you want to aggress a player, some manual input should always be required.
