EVE General Discussion

For some crazy reason I was thinking about playing this game again. It's been a while. I started to update my existing copy of the game. I have a limited quota internet. I remember last time I played the game suffered poor performance if the whole thing was not loaded (ie the background loading made it lag). So I ticked the box to download it all. Curious as to what the file size download would be, too big is a deal breaker as I don't want to use all my monthly quota.

So it starts off only going to download around 384ish megabytes. So I think cheering, not too much as changed, lets do it!!!
Then so begins the bait and switch. After the 384 megs it changes to 982 megabytes. I'm like ugh okay, not sure what happened there but I can live with another gig. So it downloads that but I notice it is on like file 14000ish of 610000 files. Its still downloading them but the displayed 982 megabyte size stays the same. After a while I become concerned, i close the launcher. I reopen it. Low and behold, the 384meg, turned 982meg is now apparently 2.1 gigabytes.

Let me guess, after 2.1 gig it'll still stay saying 2.1gig but magically be 3.2 gig? 4.8 gig? 6.9 gig? 10gig?

Outrageous. Feeling totally hoodwinked, I have no idea how big this download is going to be. What I do know is that it is misleading at best, fraudulent at worst. Might not matter to some people but for me, those gigabytes are expensive. Whatever the final size of what I need to download is to be, it should tell me honestly not bait and switch showing different amounts as it goes.
