Being a fan of it since the start of game, I've tried multiple variants to fit both PvP and Exploration in a single ship. I've done some combat scanning to scoop drones, steal some loot, salvage some wrecks and now I've been trying to figure out how to do combat scanning and running over other ships, pref frigs that are doing sites. I'm currently using a Caracal, fitted like this:

[Caracal, Kestrel Inkura's Caracal]
[Empty Low slot]
Photonic Upgraded Co-Processor
Crosslink Compact Ballistic Control System
IFFA Compact Damage Control

10MN Y-S8 Compact Afterburner
Scan Rangefinding Array I
J5b Enduring Warp Scrambler
Limited Adaptive Invulnerability Field I
Large Ancillary Shield Booster

Expanded Probe Launcher I
Prototype 'Arbalest' Rapid Light Missile Launcher
Prototype 'Arbalest' Rapid Light Missile Launcher
Prototype 'Arbalest' Rapid Light Missile Launcher
Prototype 'Arbalest' Rapid Light Missile Launcher

Medium Processor Overclocking Unit II
Medium Anti-EM Screen Reinforcer I
Medium Anti-Explosive Screen Reinforcer I

Combat Scanner Probe I x16
Scourge Light Missile x336
Inferno Light Missile x500
Mjolnir Light Missile x500
Cap Booster 200 x19
Core Scanner Probe I x24
Nova Light Missile x500

However, I'm still missing a ton of points in my scan deviation - most of the objects like drones, usually remain at 8x% signal, never being able to actually find them (current scan strength is 26.6, with all the alpha scanning skills at max). I've tried to fit a Scan Rangefinding Array but that won't suffice. Any advice would be apreciated.

Thank you in advance.

1: Use Sister of EvE probes, they're cheap and are much stronger.
2: Use rigs that increase your scan strength.
3: Use ships that have scanning bonuses, like the Gnosis.

Sorry, I am an alpha and from what I understood, the Gnosis is an all-in-one, expensive, good-for-nothing (unless max skilled) ship. That's why I remained in a simple cruiser. Please, correct me if I am wrong and provide a proper fit for a Gnosis that would suit my above needs.

Also, the rigs are for CPU mainly, can't do without them.

Also, the Sisters kit is quite expensive, actually.

The thing about an expanded probe launcher is that it takes so much CPU that your ship pretty much becomes useless for anything else. Most times that players are scanned down, several ships are involved:
1) a dedicated, bonused scanning ship such as a heron (T1) or a buzzard (T2)
2) a tackling ship, this can be a T1 frigate such as a condor, but often an interceptor (T2 frig) or interdictor (T2 des)
3) one or more dps ships, such as your caracal

Your ship will be very slow at scanning things and very slow at catching them once scanned down, and any decently fit ship will be able to kill you. your target will pretty much need to be AFK for this to work.

I would recommend you find a group to hunt with. Multboxing is another option. Some of the T3 ships can combine some of the above roles.

If you insist on doing this solo, and as an alpha, I would recommend the following:
Most players in low/null sec do not run missions, instead they run belts, anoms, scannable combat/exploration sites or FW complexes. In all these cases you do not need combat probes to locate them, and only the signatures need probes at all. So
1) Use a scanning frigate and scan out all signatures in a small (5-10 system) region of low or null sec. Bookmark everything.
2) Switch to a properly fit caracal (no probe launcher at all) and patrol these systems. Use d-scan to figure out where potential targets are, then warp to that belt/anom/plex/bookmark.
3) Most cases, you won't land right on top of somebody, I would recommend fitting a long point as opposed to a scram (a caracal is a kiting ship anyways.) Often you'll still land too far to catch anyone.

Once the locals figure out what you're doing they'll start trying to catch you, or bait you. At this point you'll either need to move (several ships) or make friends.

A set of 8 sisters probes is only about 4 mil, you may have been looking at the sisters probe launchers which ARE expensive as hell, and while they do have a scan bonus, I have never been able to justify buying them myself.

P.S. I may have identified your confusion, you dont have to use a sisters launcher to use sisters probes.
