Remapping Question

Hi there,

short question about remapping:

I want to go for a longer skillplan that involves mainly skills with Primary INT and Secondory MEM, should i then max out the attribute points on INT and put the rest in MEM or should i even out (same amount) the points on INT and MEM.

Thanks!

typically the recommendation is to make sure your queue will last until your next remap is available, then you max out the primary attribute and put the remaining points into the secondary attribute.

Get EVEMON, make your skillplan there and hit the optimize attributes button to see the best mapping. Unless your training que is over year long i would recommend throwing drones there too, (MEM/PER, really nasty combination)

Most likely the best option will be maxed INT rest in MEM unless you train lots MEM skills, drones in this case.

Thanks guys!

acutally i am planning to spend my 3rd remap on MEM/PER only for drones after INT/MEM & PER/WIL ... might be nuts... Roll

You get 1 standard remap per year and start with 2 bonus remaps as a new character. Since your early training as a new character will involve skills from all attribute groups, I recommend you wait a while before burning a remap. Odds are you will change your mind and head in a different direction several times during your first year in the game.

Once you've settled on a career you can create a 12 month plan and use all your assignable attribute points to optimize for that. If the skill you're training is "on map" you'll train about 480 sp/hour faster than someone with a balanced map. If you have +3 implants (basic) for the primary and secondary attributes you'll get an additional 270 SP/hour. These implants aren't particularly expensive - in the 8-10 million isk range, though that can be a lot when you're just starting.

Do Little's advice was spot on. Many times in your first year you will think that you know what you want to train for the next year and then change your mind. I recommend staying with the general remap for at least the first month. Once you have a decent idea of what kinds of things that you are going to be doing in game and have gotten the skills that you might want which aren't covered by that proposed remap out of the way then you can remap.

Or you could do a remap that is more specific but not fully focused so for example you could evenly spread them between Perception and Intelligence. Those won't be perfect for anything but they will be an improvement for much of what you will be training if you are a combat pilot.

No matter what you do I recommend that you not use your last bonus remap to map into something hyper focused. Keep one around to go back to a more balanced map.

The mechanics used to be that you trained a given skill and 1 skill point per minute of the primary attribute and 0.5 skill points per minute of the secondary attribute. It still essentially works this way as training times for omegas has not changed but that 2 X training multiplier can make things confusing.

For example if you were omega and had +5 implants and were mapped to put as many points as allowed into the primary attribute and put the rest into the secondary then you'd have 32 points in the primary and 26 in secondary. 32 + ( 26 * 0.5 ) = 45 skill points per minute 45 * 60 = 2700 skill points per hour.

However any attribute that you mapped out of would be at 22 even with +5s or 17 with no implant. so that works out to 1980 and 1530.

All of this math should still work for omegas if you ignore the 2 X and just understand that alphas train at half of the above numbers.

In Eve skill points don't directly do anything for you, only skill levels give you any benefit. Since each skill level is five times as many skill points as the previous level, you are often better off training lower level / shorter skills than trying to max out some skill group.
