I always laughed at people that thought taking something from someone actually put you into their pocket. Sure, if they actually have power, they can lean on you or try to hurt you in return if you do not comply but that hardly means you are in their pocket. In Eve as in life if someone gives you something, regardless of the reason why, it is yours and you dont have to do a thing in return if you dont wish to. Sure, often there are consequences, but frankly if you arent strong enough to deal with those you arent much of anything imo.

Whats mine is mine and whats yours... will in time also be mine. So eat, drink and be merry for tomorrow you will die.Twisted

Have you heard anything I've said?

You said it's all circling the drain, the whole universe. Right?

That's right.

Had to end sometime.

I find that confusion around what to do with things someone gave to you very un Eve like. Given how the Eve universe is all about ways to get other peoples stuff in any manner possible the answer is easy. Take the stuff and know you are being true to Eve.

EVE's about climbing the ladder. You can do that with cheap scams, you can do that by playing the long con, or, as Chribba has proven, you can do that by being the one person in the game well known to do neither.

Or you can just grind.

TL;DR there are many ways to make ISK. OP, if that angst of yours is real angst, go find another way to make your ISK. If you're a masochist and you enjoy the intrigue, by all means, raise the pot.

Only the liberty of the individual assures the prosperity of the whole. And this foundation must be defended.

At any cost

A bribe is what you give to someone in authority to treat you better, differently or more leniently. It's being passed up a power hierarchy.
A gift is given and puts the recipient in a position of indebtness, as it is being handed down a power hierarchy.

The responses here that assume that treachery is always the best option are from people with little experience of power. The basis of all relationships is trust. If you want to do big things you need others you can trust. That's the joke of EvE: people treat you differently based on ownership of fictional assets, the most important thing of all, trust, is not for sale.

You have a chance to build a relationship, you have choices that will shape your future.

Updating my current status, I've managed to begin paying my "Benefactor" back and he is delighted by my current influx of funds, proposing I'd be the recipient of any future contracts on items he produces so my vassalization is coming near to an end once i return the 30 million in funds I owe him.

If this "endeavor" doesn't involve screwing over a 3'rd party and is not shady, I'd argue it's not bribery. More like buying a slave... Go to Provi and roleplay?

I've been subjugated to a conudrum of a situation involving another user who has been providing assets to me in exchange that I support an endeavor of his considering my current lack of finances. I'm stifled as to how to treat this matter delicately without offending the one providing these "Gifts" or ending up further entrenched in his pocket. May someone kindly advise me in how to handle this properly?

It's a game, just take everything and if you get bored, start taking his gifts and not doing anything until he stops.

What you are describing is not bribery, bribery is specifically about compensation for betrayal.
