How to dscan deadspace area?

Actually I have two questions:
1) I want to dscan a deadspace area before I go activate the acceleration gate. How to know which direction to scan? The gate points to one direction and sends ships that way. So to dscan the deadspace, do you have go to the gate and see which direction it points?

2) I've heard that there's a way to tell if a mission beacon has been tripped/activated. How to know?

Thanks

Yeah set dscan to very short range / angle and ping the direction the gate faces. If the mission is underway you should see wrecks and maybe drones on dscan, as well as the ship that's running the site.

1. Yes, that's exactly what you need to do.

2. Before we answer, could you elaborate a bit more?

I just do a. 360 degree scan with 120000 km as the range.

Most gates move you 10000 km exactly so that should cover anything.

Thank you my friends, appreciated. o7

As for question 2., about beacons: For FW missions, reportedly there are mission 'beacons'. Honestly, I haven't tried one yet, so I don't know. Belay that question for now please, might be barking up the wrong tree.

I believe it is usually closer to 30,000km now, it used to be 10,000 but when they made grids bigger multiple pockets could be on the same grid so they moved them out further.

When directional scanning across astronomical distances any transversal travel into the deadspace zone is negligible. Just set for 15 degress and point your scanner at it. You will capture all items whether they be at the gate or in the site.

That may be sensible.

No harm in setting to a quarter million kilometers then.

That's nothing on the scales we are talking about.
