Is this within the rules?

If I buy am item at the lowest price, then immediately see the item is available at the same price by the same person, is this possible within the rules?

Example:
Veldspar 1 unit at 1.00 ISK
Veldspar 1000 units at 2.00 ISK

I buy one unit at 1 ISK, then market updates to
Veldspar 1 unit at 1.00 ISK
Veldspar 1000 units at 2.00 ISK

I buy one more unit and it's from the same seller, then market updates to
Veldspar 1 unit at 1.00 ISK
Veldspar 1000 units at 2.00 ISK
etc.

If it is within the rules, I'd appreciate knowing how to do it; if not I suppose I should report it as - an exploit. general cheating?

What you experienced is very likely an expired sell order. When sell orders expire they're only hidden from the market until downtime, at which point they're actually removed. The way the market works is that the lowest price items are sold (and highest buy orders filled) first, no matter which order you click (that just sets the price and maximum quantity) or price you specify.

Next time you see this happen, look at the time left in the 'Expires In' column, you'll see that it hasn't been reset to ~1/3/7/14/30/90 days which means that the order you're looking at is an old order.

Interesting, thanks for your explanation. It does assume that a seller has a lot of sell orders for single units, but that's not impossible I guess. I'll look more closely next time.

You're not buying from the one unit order, you're buying from a hidden order that is priced below the one unit order.

So when an order expires / is expiring it changes from 1 order of X units to X orders of 1 unit?

No, you can't see the expired order as it is hidden. The 1 unit order is just a normal order.

Is the expired order accessible via citadels?

What broker fee do I need to access it...
