Bumping warping JF's of a high sec gate, exploit or not?

Link to a vid of this "bumping while in warp" or it's all hearsay. Kill mails do not show direction, distance from gate, whether in warp or not. It could be instances of salty freighter pilots who want to blame someone or something other than themselves. Sure, it's possible it could be the dreaded "E" word..but until it's proven, it's nothing but lost ships. It seems to me that trying to judge exactly where a ship will warp in and land and time the bump so perfectly as to hit the target before out of warp is a bit of a stretch. It's not like the old Rooks and Kings pipe bomb..this would take far more precision.

Like mentioned before, this is C&P..it's not really the forum you want to post on about losses and expect sympathy. Get some proof or contact CCP by other means. GL.

If I had a nickel for every time someone said women don't play eve, I'd have a bag of nickels to whack the next person who said it..

I have had people try and bump me as I was warping to gate. Generally they start approaching you when you appear on grid, hoping to bump you as soon as you exit warp.

I've never actually seen it work, but I have seen people try.

Eve is like an addiction; you can't quit it until it quits you. Also, iderno

Me and Lunar (ok, it was mostly Lunar) bumped a Orca in Dodi until the Faction Police showed up (those lazy bastards). Yep, the Orca pilot had Bad Gallente Standings and they Did Not Like Him, not one bit.

Hilarity thus ensued, especially when a passing Gila pilot accidently scrammed said Orca and got Concordokkened.

Remember kids....no shame in have safety on Yellow when you are visiting hisec...:)

Everything in EVE is a trap.

And if it isn't, it's your job to make it a trap...:)

You want to know what immorality in EVE Online looks like? Look no further than Ripard "Jester" Teg.

Shhhh..don't tell them that. I like when they forget to set their safties. It makes for glorious spaceship exploding shenanigans. Blink

If it is just to waste someones time then it is bannable. If it is used to kill the JF then it is fine. The argument is that if it is a 'tactical' strategy (I.E. gaining a financial advantage) then it is fine. Otherwise it is simply griefing.

that used to be the case . now , there's no requirement for the eventual death of the ship being bumped . as you've said , you got a lot of catching up to do .. wb .

It is very possible to bump a freighter / jump freighter as it exits warp on a celestial. It is tricky, but very possible. Bumping is an essential skill that every pilot should have knowledge and practice of.

Longest Ive kept a freighter bumped is 4 hours. Was a fun mental game of ping pong!

It's possible and imo not an exploit. I run for a JF courier service for a living (over 2000 courier contracts handled last month, over 550 full JF loads moved) and I dont really see a problem with this.

Basically what happens is that sometimes you land at 2450m on the gate. If you get hit by a ship in that moment, in the tick where you land and drop out of the warp tunnel, you can get bumped off. It's just the regular game mechanic since the server needs one tick to check if you are actually in jump range of the gate. In EVE Online everything comes with a certain risk. This is good, JFs are terribly overpowered and nearly untouchable, thus I think it's a good thing that some people discovered a way to eventually kill a JF.

It's super easy to avoid this by using a quiter lowsec -> highsec gate, so I wouldnt say it's a big deal. I had a few guys hunting for my alts and all I did was to anchor a 900mil Astrahus somewhere else while going a few more jumps trough HS space until I'm at my final destination. I really dont get it why everybody is panicing. Harden the **** up.
