Modular Specialized Transports

4 new Empire Transport Ships that fit a specialized set of modules which would allow them to hopefully straddle the midpoint between a DST and a Freighter. Often there is a need to have a localized hauler that is less specialized in long range maneuvers, but that can smooth out some of the logistic pain points of moving certain products between the various local structures.

  • Modules should be large enough to create an actual need for choice.
  • Hull and Modules should be priced according to usage compared to nearest similar assets.
  • The ship stats should avoid overlap of function, while considering likely usage.
  • Overall the new assets should provide new and meaningful gameplay.

The intention is to fill a need without taking away from current gameplay, which I feel a ship like this would do. I have slapped some numbers together in order to better illustrate my concept, which can be found at the link below.

You are aware that half of your specialised bays are the same size or smaller than an existing DST, right?

And that there is literally no reason for any of this to exist? What situation are you in where you need a subcapital hauler for 90km3 of drones?

And why can you not use a max cargo DST (~89km3) to do it already? Or an orca, rorqual freighter, jump freifhter etc etc etc

or just jump your carrier to the station your new fighters are in, since I cannot think of a single other reason for a drone hauler.
