I'm a frozen pea

So I just join this game like a half hour ago and its laggy and it freezes up and the red dot blew up my ship while I was locked out on the desktop trying to get the prog to open back up and when I came back I look like a frozen pea and don't know what to do.

does this prog freeze often? how do I get another ship? I got 5000 ISK, is that money because it says wallet above it? is that a lot? can I get a good ship for 5000 ISK? How do I do that?

I'm so lost.

Dock in any station and you'll get another Corvette, then try to continue the tutorial.

The thing you are in is your "pod", it's kind of like a mini-ship your character is in. Your pod goes into any ship you enter and is what you control it from. Your pod will be intact (at least until it too gets popped) after your ship gets blown up in space.
ISK is the game currency.
The ship you fly right when starting the game is a "rookie ship". I think they might be free if you dock your pod back in the station you came from.

edit: Game does lose connection every great once in a while due to it being pretty sensitive to data packet transfer loss, but seems to me a lot of that can be mitigated on our end. I don't recall it doing much freezing. Maybe your graphics are set too high?

the game freezes very rarely for me, I suggest you look at your settings might need to optimize for performance if you are on old hardware. And as said above you can dock in any station and get a free starting ship.

I suggest you run the basics of the tutorial and then go do the career agents, I think the tutorial leads you to them but if it doesn't press f12 and click the show career agents button. Last time I made a new character I came out of all that with a bunch of ships and around 20 million isk which I consider a pretty good base for trying to figure out what to do next.

Hello and welcome to Eve,

Definitely reset your graphics options and optimize for performance in the 'Display & Graphics' tab of the EVE Online game menu by pressing the ESC key after logging into the game. Lower your Cache Size but keep it as high as your computer can handle so that the game will still be visually appealing. Also you can uncheck the options for Turret Effects, Effects, Missile Effects and Trails to reduce graphics load. There are other options available in the ESC menu to help boost performance so be sure to check out everything.

You can also clear all cache files in the 'Reset Settings' tab. That will help remove little annoying bugs that tend to show up after downloading a game release patch.

Good luck and may you have a long rewarding career here.

I've been playing on integrated graphics of u-type processors for approx. 3 years now. Not a single freeze or crash.

Connection issues sometimes, yes. They almost always turned out as being caused by wifi or mobile broadband.

Sounds like you have a graphics driver and / or hardware issue. You may want to check your system.

Sounds like the game is downloading game-assets as you need them. You can make the launcher download the whole game by going into the launcher settings and ticking "download all". It will take some time though.

Wormholer for life.

Help put the "frozen pea" in context:

EDIT: 10 million ISK is not a lot for an established player. That's roughly the bounty reward for destroying ~10 NPC battleships.

It usually does. When something like that happens to me, I've found it's almost always something I missed or hadn't figured it out yet. Keep thinking and trying, you'll get it.

Dudes, I'm such a loser in this game.

So people said buy plex for Omega account. I did. I spent 9 million isk buying a plex and now they said I gotta spend 3 million isk 497 more times to get a plex.

I'm like WHAT!? So now, whoever generously gave me 10 million isk, sorry...I totally wasted it being tricked :-/

You should keep-up with major patch releases via dev blogs and news:

News - The 119.5 Release Has Been Successfully Deployed!

Dev Blog - PLEX Changes On The Way!
Dev Blog - PLEX Rework - Follow up

Scamming newbros is something CCP doesn't tolerate. You could petition it, but because of the small amount, I'd recommend just learning from it.

Dude I'm overwhelmed. It's like just because I want to play this game everyone expects me to know everything like immediately.

Like right now this corporation recruited me and i said okay but they won't help me won't answer my questions and I have no idea how to leave. All I want to do is make drugs with a fart harvester and be Scarface in space.

^^^ quoted for truth

You're only a loser if you don't learn from it.
Don't feel too bad, OP. If you learn from your loss, it will be a more valuable lesson to you in the long run than what you have lost. PLEX are running about a billion isk right now on the in-game market. You can check prices of things anywhere in the game with one of several third-party tools such as evecentral.com Nobody likes to be scammed, certainly, but please keep in mind that scamming is allowed in this game and very common. You might find it useful to read up on eve scams. Never "buy" / trade window PLEX directly from another player.

If your corp won't answer your questions at your character age, you are right to want to leave.

Right click your character name in chat, scroll down to the bottom of the popup. There should be a question there along the lines of "Quit Corporation?", then it will ask you to confirm that. Confirm that you want to quit, and you're out. You'll be placed in a default corporation for players between employment in player owned corps.

Best of luck.

No, not immediately, but as you go along.

For example, before buying PLEX, it would have been a good idea to find-out what PLEX was and what it was used for first Blink

As another example, before I shot any ship in EvE, I chose to first learn what the consequences of that action was, as well as how to do it. [When I started, there were no tutorials.]

Ack!! Horrible corp then!

Right-click on your avatar in the chat window, and click on "quit corp". You'll be placed in your default NPC corp.

Optionally, just apply to join another corp instead without first quitting, but you may have to select "drop roles" and wait 24 hours before accepting an invitation to join another corp in that case. Quitting corp avoids having to wait, but will add the NPC corp to your corp history (don't worry about that).

Make sure you are docked while doing this.

Now you know about quitting corps. See, you learned something Blink
