Just finished the tutorial (yes I know I'm slow) and now I'm meeting the career people...when should I join a corp? How do I do that? I want to meet real people.

Whenever you want. Whenever you do, you'll learn faster off them as long as they're new pilot friendly.

When I first started I didn't even know there were tutorials.

I only post here if EvE is offline. Which means my posts are never well timed.

You can join a corp whenever you want, I would suggest looking for one now as it can take a while to find a good one.

You can use the recruitment section of the forums to see who is recruiting or even place an ad there yourself. There is an ingame recruitment chat channel which is usually useless and full of spam, but sometimes you get lucky. There is also a recruitment tool in the corporation window (the star icon on the left hand bar) which allows you to filter corp ads to find something that suits you. Just be awars that most of the ads lie about what they do to try and get their ad to show up more.

If your main reason for joining a corp is to meet real people, try talking in local. Every now and again you will get a response.

Most corporations will prefer that you complete the career missions before joining. Use the in game corporation app (recruitment tab) or the forum recruitment section to find a corporation that looks interesting and join their recruitment channel for a chat.

The more established corporations will also want a recruiter to speak to you using teamspeak/mumble/discord etc...

you can look in the recruitment section of the forums. You can also just look at the "show info" UI on a character and then click on his corp to do a "show info" on his corp then his alliance. Look for public chat channel information under the corp or alliance info.

Join several public chat channels and talk people up. If you decide a corp is not what you are looking for then drop that channel. Eventually you should find a group of guys that you want to fly with.

The main thing is to just talk to people and make friends. This game is an MMO and it's all about the interaction but you do have to engage others.

Most say that the sooner you get interacting with groups in MMOs in general, the richer the game experience will be compared to going at it solo. I hope you hit jackpot by getting into a very active one.

You can join a corp whenever you want. I would talk to a few to see what they and their people are like before deciding. When I started I was only 10 days old when I joined a corp and went to nullsec.
