Quitting is unrelated to an addiction. Addiction means you'll play EVE even if you need to go to sleep to work tomorrow. Or when you are playing and someone asks you something (like can you help stop the bleeding) and you respond agressively because they are bothering you while the important EVE Online infinite tear mining is not done yet. As long as you don't have negative consequences it's not an addiction.

I'd argue a sign of addiction is when you can't get it off your mind (distracts) while doing other important tasks. Alcoholics typically think about when they are going to get their next drink and the longer they go without the stronger the urge. Same with smokers and those addicted to gaming. You think about what you're going to do next when you are able to get on, past just the typically planning that is associated with a lot of activities within EVE (I need to get x y z done before the end of the week). In other words thinking about new ship fits you can try, areas of the market you haven't delved into yet, etc.

Social aspects are a draw to MMOs, but typically aren't the cause of an addiction forming.

What? I didn't get to express my thoughts and viewpoints yet! That's what males like me, of a certain age or older, live for!
