Black Screen on Launcher

Hello everyone I am new to the game and look forward to having fun here. I would like to add I have deleted and re downloaded the launcher several times as this will sometimes fix other games. When I click on the launcher in my desktop it opens but the entire screen is black. When I mouse over it still lets me click on thumb nails which take me into my browser on the EVE website. It's like everything is there, it's just not visible. Is the game downloading and causing this? I do not yet have the game installed. Just fired up the launcher. Thx
