Maybe this has been discussed before, but I would personally be very interested in having the next system in route show up radial and right click menus in a similar fashion that mission warpins do perhaps.

Background:
Dirty wormholer and chronic wrist pain. From my point of view, the next system jump requires unnecessary and inefficient wrist motion.

Thoughts?

The next gate should be automatically selected in the Selected Item window when you jump into the system, allowing you to either hit your "Jump" hotkey, or just click the Jump button on the gate.

Generally the only time I have to move my mouse when jumping systems is if I've clicked in a window somewhere to type.

That system works great if you are jumping straight from system to system without really doing anything. Also, doesn't quite work 100% of the time and requires trust to a certain extent. I have seen it cost a freighter's life or two.

However, if you are jumping out of a wormhole, roaming for pvp, or doing scout work during invul timers, that auto select system doesn't work anymore.

Now you could argue "hey just have gates on all your overview tabs", but that has presented me with a couple challenges:

(A) Overview Clutter - leads to confusion in new areas when roaming for pvp (especially with newer players)

(B) requires scrolling in a lot of systems. If you have wrist pain or have suffered wrist injuries, the act of scrolling may not be a comfortable endeavor (also a reason that PI is out for me - too painful).

It kind of sounds like there's not a great solution here for you.

Personally I don't feel like the radial menu needs more clutter, and besides that you'd need to move it away from anything else context sensitive anyways to use this in the first place, so there's going to be mouse movement no matter what. It's also impractical for CCP to add every single commonly used option to the radial menu.

On top of that if you're just roaming you're going to be moving your mouse around a lot anyways, and often you won't even be using an autopilot route.

You can also select the gate and hold down on it for the radial menu, which would require about as much mouse movement as moving off the overview and into space in most cases. The need to scroll can be solved by having a Travel or other minimal overview tab that includes gates.

I can sympathize with the wrist pain here, but I'm not really sure what you expect out of a game with as much prolonged mouse use as Eve calls for...

It kind of sounds like you might want to take a break from Eve and computer use in general to let your wrist heal if it's causing you so much pain that using the scroll wheel aggravates it...

People actually use the radial? I thought that was a joke from an April fools long past that they were just to lazy to take out of the game.

Radial menu is actually super useful once you get used to it, especially since it works in a bunch of different contexts including your watchlist. No more clicking more than once to anchor up or orbit a target :P
