Solo PVP in wormholes - Weapon of choice, fitting and methods?

Greetings.

As the title says, what are the best ships, their respective fittings and good methods for wormhole solo PVP, in the current meta? Solo, in this case, means: 1 pvp ship + 1 cloaky scout/prober alt. Two accounts, same player scenario.

Any thoughts are appreciated. Thank you all.

Regards.

Solo? A stealth bomber. They're all good, but I prefer a Manticore for the extra mid slot so that you can either run dual scrams or dual target painters depending on your target.

I would have to kindly disagree with the stealth bomber. You'll find that it is very limiting in terms of what you can gank and survive solo. An astero fit properly can beat you, a stratios will shred you, a t3 will dice you. My 2 favorite solo wh Pvp ships are the stratios and proteus. I am not at my computer for fits but it's fairly easy to find them for those 2 ships if you don't have the gunnery skills you can run neuts instead on the stratios

It really depends on what you're targeting. But since you have two ships consider putting your scout in an attack exploration astero for quick locking of frigates and your other char in a stratios for the broadest engagement range.

Stratios is undisputedly the best ship possible for solo wormhole hunting.

  • Scan bonus to map chains and locate targets fast
  • Easily fit to shield buffer, armor buffer, active armor, or even hull tank
  • Drones do high application damage and flexibility
  • High slot freedom for neuts (recommended) or lasers
  • Huge number of mids for your choice of EWAR
  • Cant take on almost any ship 1:1 from frigate to most Battlecruisers
  • Looks incredibly sexy, especially with the WINGSPAN Firecell SKIN

I've used a Manticore to hit softer targets, like mining barges, epithals and the ocasional pve battlecruiser, in low-sec a while back, and it surely worked well on those kinds of situation. But I have to agree that being in a bomber limits your pvp engagement options. I'm looking for a more all-around solution.

I always thought that T3 cruisers were top of the food chain when it comes to wormhole solo pvp, but now that you mentioned it and after some further reading, Stratios seems to do just as well in many scenarios.

I'm leaning towards a T3 (Tengu or Proteus) + Stratios setup. T3 basically for dps and cause they look cool (specially the Tengu) and Stratios for tackle+neut+dps. What do you think I can take down with those ships? And what T3 ship/fitting would you personally preffer in this case? Really cool videos on your YouTube channel btw, Chance Ravinne.

Thanks a lot you all for your input. Any additional thoughts are very welcome.

Depends on the kind of hunting method you have. My personal preference is stalking wormholes for juicy PvEr targets. I used to use a covops neuting legion and a drone/neut/nullified/cloak+mwd proteus (if you can tackle the target with another ship, this Proteus will perform much better than a Stratios). Both hulls and pods were blinged (maybe 5b in total). You can take down up to solo c4/c5 marauders plus few people warping in with that kind of setup. Site runner Tengus or Rattlesnakes etc. are also among favorite preys.

Problem is that it will take days for you to find a suitable target, and for the target to get out and start doing sites, and for you to be online simultaneously. And watchlist changes kind of ****** this kind of hunting hard (but problems of nullseccers were ofc more important). So if what I'm after is juicy PvE ships I'd rather BLOPS hunt in nullsec instead these days. For wormholes you can go for less hardcore, more daily kind of hunting with a cheaper duo. If you are not afraid of losing your ship (I was due to the bling) you can always find causal fights in random ships of your choice.

PS: Don't pay attention to those who offer bombers. They are the best starter ship of hunting in wormholes but that's it really.

PS2: I think Chance is talking Stratios being the king of "real" solo in which he is right. But for dualbox setups a t3 specialized in scanning/tackling/neut warfare and a t3 specializing in dps can outperform alternative setups with one or two Stratioses.

Yeah for solo WH work, there's no real competition for the stratios.

I'll give you 3; Pvp Astero - Stratios - Cloaky Prot - /the end

For solo hunting this will cover the bulk of your engagements. There are other great ships to use as well but they are more specialized.

Keep in mind with the upcoming T3C changes and the introduction of the CONCORD covops ships, the meta will get shaken up A LOT!

I didn't know CONCORD ships would be covops. All of them? Can you point the source?

Thanks.

So much this. The stratios is the pocket battleship of wormhole space, can and does kill anything upto it's size with relative ease, can escape anything that is bigger than it.

Engagement profile for a solo stratios:
All T1 Frigates, Cruisers, Battlecruisers (except for shield regen myrm)
All Faction Frigates, Cruisers (Gila can battle you, but with some skill and a good fit, still a winnable fight)
All Exploration ships (T1/T2/Astero)
Some T3 Cruisers (specifically proteus, loki, and some legion fits)
Most Non-PVP T1 Battleships (Hyperion, Dominix, Armageddon, or Typhoon would be very difficult)
Some Faction Battleships (anything cap intensive)
Most, if not all PVE battleships (upto passive regen tanked rattlesnakes, but this can and will eat active rattlesnakes alive).

There's not a more versatile ship in j-space than the stratios for PVP.

My name is Jonn Duune, and I wholeheartedly support the message posted above.
