This should tide you over, reading will get you far in eve.

At the lower lvl1 and 2, you can fit your ship however you want. But at the lvl3~4 range resists are usually fitted.

There are asteroid belt rats & combat anomalies, which get harder and payout better as you go from hisec, lowsec and nullsec.

Implants-wise, you can get the +3 or +4 attribute sets, so as to unlock skills and modules faster. Remember to shoot for T2 level modules as they are good performance-wise.

As far as a PvE guide goes, I think Eve Survival is still the golden standard. It has been a while since I've run missions, so my info could be outdated. If something different has replaced it then hopefully someone else can chime in.

Hello and welcome to Eve.

Hopefully you've already completed the NPE (New Player Experience) tutorial and the 5 different Career Agents. If not I highly advise you to do that asap. The Career Agents will give you various ships, equipment, skillbooks, etc which will give you a good jumpstart into the game.

After completing those, I suggest doing the level 1 Sisters Of Eve Epic Arc which is offered by Sister Alitura in the Sisters of EVE Bureau station at Arnon IX - Moon 3. That arc will provide more experience at piloting your ship and gain some ISK as well as allow you time to decide which Career path to follow in Eve.

Suggesting a skill plan is tough since there's various types of PvE content to engage with in this game. Since you're looking to do missions, training up the Social skills will help a lot. I think the most important skills to train up are the Core Fitting skills. Those will allow you to easily fit up ships which in turn allows you to enjoy the game.

*Core Fitting Skills*

Acceleration Control - To maximize Afterburner & MWD speed.
Advanced Weapon Upgrades - To reduce turrets and launchers powergrid need.
Afterburner - To reduce Afterburner duration & capacitor need.
Capacitor Management - To maximize Capacitor.
Capacitor Systems Operation - To maximize capacitor recharge rate.
CPU Management - To maximize CPU.
Electronics Upgrades - To reduce sensors & co-processors CPU requirements.
Energy Grid Upgrades - To reduce power modules CPU requirements.
Evasive Maneuvering - To increase acceleration & agility.
Fuel Conservation - To reduce Afterburner capacitor need.
High Speed Maneuvering - To reduce MWD capacitor need.
Hull Upgrades - To maximize armor.
Mechanics - To maximize structure.
Navigation - To increase ship velocity.
Power Grid Management - To maximize powergrid.
Repair Systems - To operate best armor/hull repair modules.
Shield Management - To maximize shield.
Shield Operation - To maximize shield recharge rate.
Shield Upgrades - To reduce shield upgrades powergrid need.
Spaceship Command - To increase ship agility.
Warp Drive Operation - To reduce capacitor need for warp.
Weapon Upgrades - To reduce turrets and launchers CPU need.

The skills are listed in alphabetical order only, which skill to train first depends on your needs.

I suggest taking them up to level 3 to start, then work on maxing them asap. Don't forget to include the other main / support skills such as specific ship, defense, offense and career oriented skills. Don't just queue up one skill to train multiple levels, queue up multiple skills to train up one level each, that way you'll be able to easily play the game much sooner.

Good luck to you, may you have a long and rewarding career here.

In addition to the excellent advice above:

https://www.eveuniversity.org/ offers a massive (and reasonably up to date) wiki with articles on just about anything you can do in Eve. They also offer instructor led courses you can take - see the top sticky thread in this forum.

CCP has created some excellent instructional videos. They are available in game from the help tool (F12) or on youtube https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCczUeYqoS7d40bkeWmJHXGw

Eve is intended to be a social game and the best resource for new players are other players. Start looking for a corporation that supports the gameplay you are interested in. As a mission runner, look for a loot buyback program, reduced tax on NPC bounties and scheduled fleets that allow new players to participate in higher level missions and learn from experienced players. Use the in-game corporation tool, the forum recruitment thread and https://evewho.com/ to guide your search.

Good luck and welcome to Eve!
