was going to ask why?
But you answered that already kinda..........

The orca is well able to get 500+ ehp with just t2 mods, might as well use the mining boosts mods (at least for range and duration) park a second account next to it like a skiff or proc, throw a shield command boost (+resists) for some extra oophm just in case and call it good.......if you really plan on not being AFK.

Basically use the Orca for what it is meant to be, a mining Command/Coordinator Fleet vessel.

Yeah the problem is when I'm gaming I could be interrupted at any given time by family obligations, for an unspecified amount of time (kid: "Daddy, I cut my finger and now my brother is hitting me with a sword!" Me: "Shut up!! I need to fill this damn ore hold!!!)

Dual accounting is definitely not an option, requires too much presence. :-) For the same reason I tend not to join any corps, because I can't ever guarantee being online on a given day or time, or even logging in for a long time.

But I do love trying new type of ships, especially niche ones, like using stupid non-optimal ships for things that they aren't normally used for, just for the heck of it.

Welcome to the club brother. This is why my latest bout of EvE Online has primarily been lived out as "Stupid Station Games Online"; I can dock pretty much any time I want, and even if I can't, I'm only undocked in cheap ships so no big loss.

If you do this you'll get the effect you were going for. If someone is willing to bring enough gank to crack that then they're going to bring enough to gank you full tank. But if you're not in a fleet then using your boosts to do shield resists + shield bonus is good too.

I would definitely suggest you use the mids to fit for your fun.
