Special characters in structure names?

I'm trying some things with structures lately, but when I want to give it a name with even the most basic special characters in it, it gives me an error: "Name contains illegal characters.". Yet I see structures everywhere that have the exact same characters in their name?

What gives? I just want a simple name like "T2 Modules/Drones/Ammo" but it won't let me.

It used to be that people could call them pretty much anything.

Then people abused that. And now we can't have nice things.

Woo! CSM XI!

So no special characters at all? Not even a simple dash? Ugh, CCPlease.

Probably to avoid ASCII art.

It's also to avoid things like using unicode to have two structures named (as far as the eye can tell) exactly the same thing.

There are a number of unicode characters which are (depending on the font) exactly the same as another.

That's a given. I was referring to the ban on simple ASCII punctuation characters, not Unicode.

What about characters like #%& ? they're pretty useful for sorting citadels by function in systems, and they pose no risk for impersonating another citadel (heh).
