Best way to manage sec status??

I have been a good boy my entire eve life, and my sec status is still only 0.3

Background info: nullsec is quite a way away from jita, you have to take an inty cos people leave their bubbles lying around, and apart from the weird types camping the entry without instalock you rarely see anyone.

I killed an Ibis today in lowsec, someones cyno alt they were afk, totally a jerk thing to do, but I liked it.

Anyway, back on topic, what is the easiest way to raise my sec status, and how many times can I be a jerk in lowsec before 0.3 becomes less than zero??

Well I don't know how much sec status you lose per kill cause I never cared but to get it back to neutral you can gain clone tags and hand them in to concord stations for sec status. Or you can carebear it up and kill rats for dank sec status ticks. -5 will see you perma flashy in highsec. There is also a scaling thing for sec status of systems but again I've never bothered to learn it

You buy tags and exchange for security. It takes 300m from -10 to 0. 100m from -2 to 0.

As long as you leave the pods alone (where concord keeps records), the sec status losses are small.

I don't plan on being too naughty, a few tags in the right place should keep me above zero... thanks for the tip.

Pods are the sec status killer. Stay away from them and you can have quite a lot of fun without doing too much damage to your sec status. I always managed to keep my sec status between -2 and 0 by 'PvP-ratting' in between looking for fights in losec. Find a ship that works both in PvP and against the local 'rats, and you should be golden.

Also, podding pilots who are in NPC corps delivers a standings hit to you relative to that corp. This applies even if you're shooting them under non-criminal circumstances (i.e. killing flashy pods in hisec, killing pods of people who aggressed you in losec, etc.). Not really a big deal, but it's something to be aware of if you ever plan on doing missions for said corp.

QFT.

Essentially here's the deal.......in low and hi unprovoked attack gets gate and station guns on you (and CONCORD if in hisec...). You generally lose 0.2 sec status per attack, whether you kill the target or not. Now podding gets yo the same reaction....but you can lose AT LEAST 2 full points of sec status per podding. So be careful if you decide to go after afk pods.....

Now, if they are Suspect (flashy yellow) , war targets, or already Outlaw status (solid red......Criminal is flashy red....) you can shoot at them with no repercussions at all (in fact IIRC you gain sec status....)

Now, to get sec status, run the green combat anomalies you see everywhere. You lose faction status with whatever group they are (pirate/rogue drone), but gain faction and security status (a small amount). Run them enough and you sec status will be zooming into the heavens!!!

Missions help too, especially running the Sisters of EVE epic arc mission (which you can do once every three months or so).

Be aware that if you are running security missions and the bad guy is a Empire navy, you lose status with that faction (but gain sec status). Best to opt out of said mission unless it involves killing pirates or drones. Or just run TONS of courier missions.

Everything in EVE is a trap.

And if it isn't, it's your job to make it a trap...:)

Jan has a Concord Office quite near Jita.

Use your staton-trading alt to get ISK
use ISK to buy tags.

do whatever you want... jump clone in (now that standings are not necessary for clones) and spend ISK on tags and sec.

going from -10 to "can fly everywhere" takes less ISK than 1 Plex. (before the Plex changes)
No problems!

I usually grab an SB and just belt-rat in 0.1 and 0.2 systems. The clone rats in 0.1 systems boost your sec status twice as much as an NPC battleship, and clone tags are dank isk.

At 0.3 I think you can agress neutrals 4-5 times before you'll be awarded a nice minus to complement your sec status.

The easiest way to manage your sec status is to not care about it. Literally every other option requires more work.

"Best" is subjective and depends on your personal goals.

At +0.3 you can lose 2.2 points of sec status before becoming highsec illegal (and even then you only lose access to 1.0).

I believe you lose about 0.15 per act of illegal lowsec aggression and about 0.2 in highsec.

Aggressing pods is massively more, I think it's about 10-15 times as much sec loss.

Hint: pushing sec status further towards 0 if you are already above -2 is wasted time and ISK. There is no ingame reason for, except roleplay (a carebear) maybe. I keep my status in check with tags and avoiding pod kills in empire, but only because I'm living in highsec currently.

A buffer can come in handy sometimes.

There is no mechanical difference between -1.8 and +4.5, except for what happens if you illegally aggress someone. The -1.8 might fall to -2.03 with one shot at a player ship.

There are really 2 parts to this.

Sec status w/ CONCORD. It's well documented and straight forward. The easiest way I have found to keep full access to HS is pretty easy. Run missions. Yeah really - that's the easiest way. Here's the thing that makes it work - You and say 5 of your pals do some naughty stuff and wear down you sec status (yeah). You and all your buddies just find a suitable place and blitz some lvl 4s together in the same fleet. Watch the magic happen. It's like 3 random Lvl 4 missions to erase 2 ganks. So your gank team does their stuff - say 4-6 ganks. Hop in interceptors and run to the mission hub and blast through 20 or so missions as a group (which goes really fast) and you're all set. I feel the bigger problem with HS ganking is the kill rights. No matter how careful I think I'm being there is at least once / week that someone would activate kill rights on my ganknado and wonk it at an inconvenient time. This only works if you're doing selective ganking (mission cream puff, freighters and so on).

If you're a CODE or codelike ninny and wonking every barge you come across seems fun- that's a whole other thing. In that case - fly your crappy little fast ships, ignore CONCORD, facpo and everyone else and mindlessly wonk barges all day long or until the deep immersion role playing just becomes too much to bear. Whatever - you guys are special snow flakes and no amount of common sense, therapy or medication seems to snap some of you out of your fantasy. To each his own.

NPC faction standing. If you're wonking players PODs in npc corps - you take hits there. On the one hand if you're never ever planning on needing npc faction standing, don't worry about it. On the other hand - you never know what you'll be needing. Why I keep my eye on it - FW. I've never been into it. I've never joined it. I've always had better things to do. Next patch/release/expansion - FW may be the coolest space place ever. It would make me super sad to miss out on that as I repair my npc faction status. PLUS - if you **** off galente enough, they will hassle you every time you enter their space. I think the only way to regain npc faction status is by doing stuff for them. There aren't caldary tags that you can buy. To me playing one faction of vs another is a big PITA and something I don't generally want to learn about or deal with. That being said, I don't POD npc corp players unless they somehow earn it.

Sure, but the lower the sec status the less you lose from kills. Hence the cost optimal is staying at the edge. An average 2h lowsec roam costs me one transporter clone tag to repair.

EDIT: the tags to get closer to 0 are more expensive than those to get up to -2 from below (of course Blink).
