Eve doesn't have any predefined victory conditions - you need to provide your own definition of what it means to win. I'll suggest that if you're logging in and having fun you're on the right track. If you aren't, you can try a different aspect of the game or, if you simply don't like the sandbox nature of Eve and want a theme park experience - there are other games. Choice is good.

If you played Eve for a couple of years in the past (and presumably enjoyed it) you should have the skills and knowledge to earn the price of a subscription in-game. It's not that difficult.

I am very close to quitting this game.

Then quit.

The alpha state is for players that want to try the game. If you want the full experience then plex or pay. Quit whining and cough it up.

You can run ded 4s as an alpha, you can group up and run level 4s as alphas together, and you can run lowsec content as alphas together as well, likewise if you play together as a group you may well be able to pick off solo players in pvp too.

You can also earn enough money to plex, though imo just better off subbing.

Think about it this way.. Before alpha/omega you couldn't log in to the game at alla, if you hadn't paid. Now you can experience basically every aspect of the game (just with limited tools).

EVE is still a sub based game nothing changed here, the change is that trial is now unlimited in time and up to 5mil in SP max.

As others have pointed out... you can buy game time as an omega using currency earned in game. Someone is paying for that time (to buy the plex)... but that doesn't have to be you.

My advice.... play as an alpha until you reach the point where you feel like you're stalled. You have all the skills you think you need trained that you can train as an alpha to do what you want... but the limitations on training have stopped you.

At that point... decide if you want to continue. If you do... buy a 3 month subscription (40 dollars... or less with a deal).

Switch training to PI IMMEDIATELY (for your main and then for two alts). Read up on how to set up low effort PI planets and do so in a low-sec area with very little activity that you can get into high sec quickly (there are pockets relatively near trade hubs).

Once you get those set up... 3 toons with that PI should get you at least 300 million isk a month with maybe a couple of hours worth of effort (after the initial setup... which is annoying and time consuming). Start building up your isk reserves for when your paid time ends.

You should be able to bring in the difference in isk needed each month without too much effort after that.

You can do it without the 3-month sub as well... just save up the 3-4 billion you need to buy three plexes. But it's a bit harder since you'll be emptying much of your wallet to start your initial omega period... and it takes isk to make isk.

Miner calm down!
How about trying to find a corp and try to stay in it for longer than a few hours/days?

.... I'm sorry you feel that way. Most decent games don't even let you play at all if you aren't helping their bottom line. There has to be something to incourage you to pay a sub or buy a plex, and if it's just ship and skill limitations... That's not too bad at all. It's not like you can only have noob ships and that's it. I would love nothing more than than sit in my orca or a battleship or titian for free.

I'm a alpha and have been for 54 days. I went alpha for a while till I can have time to really play like I want, and catch up on some of my lackluster half hazard skill training I always have done, max out all the alpha I can do, then later sub and catch up the rest.

I love my crusers and frigs they are all I need for the time being, plus very cheap. I've learned more being alpha than the year I had subbing before I took a break back in the day.

If you feel that free isn't good enough I don't know how to help you.

I too walk into stores, get free samples, use them and love them and then feel entitled to a whole bottle but refuse to pay and subsequently brand the product and the retailer as flawed for not submitting to my demands.

When I go into car lot and ask to take the 2011 Maserati GranTurismo MC Stradale Novitec Tridente- $400,000. ... a car I can't afford if I 20 years of my paychecks in my hand when I walked in.

And ask if I can take this car for an unlimited test drive... I storm out feeling cheated that I couldn't have a car for free that I could have never ever afforded in the first place. WTH lol

i did that once. If I wanted to, as an alpha, I could easily plex running small sites and mining high sec in just one system in around 45 days, if I really lean on it.

Right now, i can only play 15-30 mins a day if my ol lady allows me. So no rush at the moment

Dear CCP,

I have been playing on and off for 13 years and paying good money for this game. Recently i have been playing Alpha i think it is outrageous that I cant fly all my shiney toys that I have aquired over the years......hmmmm hang on, thats probably a good thing actually. If i cant fly them, then I wont lose them!!!!

Alpha ftw Cool

I was a PLEX owning alpha for 3-4 weeks if that counts. I felt that I have more to learn in my 'trial' period, and I could focus on that better without the pressure of a ticking clock and an urge to grind.

I also wanted to be sure to have the means to earn the ISK for the next one in a reasonable time before I popped the first.
