Small improvement to changing ammo

CCP - I like how you've been doing a lot of little improvements here and there. Here's another one I'd like to propose:

Please let us change ammo while guns are active. It would be a nice convenience to start our reload cycle the moment we decide to change ammo instead of having to stop the guns, wait for module lag, changing ammo, and starting shooting again.

Thanks.

I... er.. didn't mean to make it sound like you should be able to start reloading mid-cycle.. More like, queue it up so when your cycle ends, the reload begins.

That is all. Carry on.

I would just be happy if the guns would auto-engage after reloading. A queue for the next cycle would be nice especially if you plan on switching to another ammo type when the loaded ammo drops to 0.

This too. I envision a world where I can flick over from scorch to conflag as I close range with a click instead of click -> wait -> click -> click -> click.

Saw the list of BFF changes for Crucible 1.1... all good things. Please keep up the good work.

Would love to see this suggestion implemented in the next BFF iteration.

Thanks.

Dear glorious, benevolent CCP overlords:

Sorry, dont like it. Will make game more automatic/boring. Just sit and watch. Maybe the change ammo type quere but definitely not the auto resume continue after reload. This way you could just start shooting POS and leave PC for few hours and it will make boting much easier.

CCP really please dont use Upgraded, Limited, Experimental and Prototype in item names. It sounds like the item is actually worse than basic meta 1 item. Use Calibrated, Enhanced, Optimized and Upgraded. Its really easy to understand that the item is better than meta 1 and its also in alphabetic order.

Was more interested in having guns continue to shoot after manually changing ammo types. I couldn't give two ***** about guns shooting after an automatic reload. Smile

Well another thing. In 1 on 1 pvp its often these little things, that matters. If you can change your ammo faster than your enemy, that one faster shot may be just it. In missions i cant see the problem - I just shoot everything in same range with one ammo type before switching to another. Soo where exactly do you need this?

I would priorize modules other than weapons gouping over this.

PvP. It's not necessary for missioning. Things are constantly changing during a fight that necessitate different ammo for different ranges, tracking, damage types, etc. Each weapon system has its own unique ammo characteristics to help you out, but in the heat of a battle, when trying to manage range, transversal, velocity, capacitor, overheating, etc, having to click 5 times to change ammo is frustrating.

One of the biggest frustrations in pvp was micromanaging overheat on modules. The button was difficult to click, requiring too much precision. CCP just addressed that in the latest patch with a shift+click solution. If that can get some attention, I don't see why convenient ammo changing can't.

Well as I stated. Its these little things that differ exprienced veteran from noob pvper. Yes it would be nice. But I dont want it. It will make pvp less exciting/hectic/chaotic for the player. Its a good thing for people who break under preasure and starts panicking. If you know exactly what are you doing, you can manage it. I know you just want to make the game more easy. But if I want easy game, I would go play wow.

I would argue that a poorly designed UI should not be part of a game's difficultly level.

And by your logic, we should have WTZ (autopilot warp to zero). And yes I know why that is a bad idea. Why is manual controll over your guns bad UI? Just because you actually must turn the gun off so you can change the ammmo? Isn it realistic?

Autopilot warp to zero gives you the ability to do something you can't do now. I'm suggesting a click saving shortcut for a very common series of clicks. If there is a common task that users perform and it requires a long series of clicks, it's good UI design to give them a shortcut. That's all.

I'm not going to get into an argument over what is realistic in a space game that uses submarine physics.
