Mining Fleet requests from other players

So I wanted to get the temperature of other Mining Fleet Directors who typically run operations in High Sec about their thoughts or opinions in regards to fielding public/local requests to join their fleets for boosts. Do you welcome being requested for boosts by others in the asteroid field, find it annoying or do so based on the situation/personal game-play style?

I don't advertise fleet boost invitations nor do I care about monetizing it as a service. I operate my mining fleet for the sole purpose of boosting my mining alt. My experience thus far started out with the occasional private conversation request from one or two other players on field. Being a recipient of direct invitations from other Mining Fleet Directors in the past, I obliged private requests out of a sense of good karma.

So for me, within the past few months, the requests have become more frequent, openly requested in local or at times demanded/expected of me to give boosts.

Is this a source of enjoyment or annoyance for other Mining Directors? As well, what are some thoughts from players who mine just seeking an extra kick to their mining yields/cycles but don't yet have a fleet of their own?

As a solo miner (mostly because I've just returned to the game after a few years hiatus) I would take it as a great favor if a mining director granted me a boost. Being new at this, my question is whether it would improve the yield enough on my Miner II's enough to make it worth bothering him with.

I think it seems a bit presumptuous to assume you're entitled to his/her aid, just because you happen to be mining in same place. Then again, in a game where you're often expected to blow up someone elses ship, ...the definition of rudeness is probably a moving target.

A couple of years ago when I was running fleets it was fairly normal for people offering public boosts to provide that information and the price in the Orca pilot bio. Not sure if it is still done that way in the age of bursts but the burst charges aren't cheap so I assume boosters will want a fee to offset the cost.

It doesn't take much effort to check the bio.

In the end of the day its up to you.

Some of my thoughts

1.I have been on the receiving end of free boosts and in fact I started a corp with the booster (stayed together for almost 2 years until he left the game), in many cases it benefits you socially to have people in fleet. People to talk to and keep you involved in the game is good.
2. Since Boosts are no on grid you are directly competing against the people you are giving boots. You lose profit.

Personally i would say invite a few people, if they are friendly and you enjoy their company invite them again, if they are freeloaders and you don't like them give them the boot. Defiantly don't invite too many people otherwise you are killing your own profit.

On my Endurance with 3x Ice Mining Upgrade II my cycle time is 69 seconds. With boosts, it is just over 38 second. Factor in range, and if you are eventually using T2 strip miners the crystal preservation boost, it is well worth it. I have tipped a booster in the past, because while cheap, the charges aren't free.

If someone asks politely for boosts/fleet invite I am happy to provide these free.

The ones that demand boosts/fleet invites get nothing.

I am boosting my miners so adding an extra person or three to the fleet does not add to what running the fleet costs me.

I have made some good "friends" chatting with people I have boosted over the years.
