So im in the process of setting up my first moon mining pos.An I have a couple questions.First ,do I have to have corp roles to anchor pos in my alliances space?Second,say I find a R 64 metal an someone in my alliance has already anchored a pos and is mining that material at the moon.Can I setup one as well and mine the same material?

Yes - you will need corp roles. The POS will be a corp asset.

No - only 1 POS per moon. You will not be able to anchor your POS if there is already one there.

Rest assured that every R64 moon in New Eden is already spoken for!

I would look for temporary moons that have T16 or so materials, I once found that Silicon Diborite had a 50% profit margin (Factoring in fuel $$$) and I made a few hundred million for a month before I crashed the market XD So yeah, if you can find some moons like that, you could try ninja mining that way (I did this in lowsec btw a few jumps out from Jita).

I know this is a question in a question thread, but how do i setup bases on moons to mine them? i just need to know how to do that because i would like to be able to mine resources that i need to build what i like. (im only 2 months into the game atm so im fairly new, halp!)

No bases on moons, I'm afraid. It does not work like Planetary Interaction (PI).

Moon mining has 4 stages:

1. Harvest raw resource
2. Simple reaction produces intermediate material
3. Complex reaction produces advanced moon material
4. Component manufacturing produces advanced components used in T2 manufacturing.

The first 3 stages currently require a POS in low or nullsec, later this year the gameplay will switch to a new refinery structure but will still be restricted to low and null security space. The 4th stage is manufactured from a blueprint using normal industry tool.

If you want to do T2 manufacturing, I recommend that you buy advanced moon materials and make advanced components for now. As we learn more about refineries it may make sense to participate in earlier stages once they are added to the game if you belong to a nullsec or lowsec corporation.

I would recommend holding off on the moon mining until the changes come out with the new drilling platforms. Your moon mining POS may very likely be obsolete once those roll out.

Hello and welcome to Eve.

As Francis Raven suggested, it's probably best to wait until after the moon mining / refinery changes take place later on this year.

There's also more guides available on Google Search. Those guides are probably old but if you check them all it should familiarize yourself with the basics. You can also search youtube for videos about Moon scanning, setting up a PoS and Moon Mining.
