I recently completed Torps 5 with an intent to specialize to lvl4. However, i made the silly mistake of not researching well enough what Torps do for me; and as a result, i realize now that Crusie would be better overall. That is, for PVE and mission running with the Raven, Cruises are better as their range is much better than Torps.

I have trained Cov Ops becaus i wanted to have a strong PVP stealth bomber outfit, and i realize Torps would be great for that, as well as with the Golem.

So now, i don't know wither it was worth it or not. Outside of the two aformentioned places to use Torps, is there somewhere else i can made those 2 1/2 weeks training worth it?

Another niche where the skill might be useful is faction warfare. Stealth bombers are popular for the faction warfare missions.

Golem.

I have torp spec 4. I never bothered with T2 cruise.

Cruise missile 5 is a 1 way ticket to quitting eve.

If you trained torps however you'll be able to fly the very fun Golem, have 1/3 of a typhoon and have a decent stealth bomber.

Well I trained Torps to 5 with the intent of squeezing the best out of my Golem. What I found was that 90% of the time, faction torps do the job just fine. Until they released the T2 tractors you wanted to kill stuff within 40km anyways to put the marauders tractor bonus into effect which roughly works out to standard torp range on them anyways. If you want to max out a Golem I'd say go for it, but I've gotten more use out of the training on my Stealth Bomber than anything I think.

The difference in damage output between torps 4 and torps 5 with spec 4 and t2 launchers is a 13% raw damage increase, nothing to be laughed at. The damage bonus from specs is from using the T2 launchers, not the T2 ammo.

Mind if I ask why? Training missiles myself at the minute, hoping to become fairly competent in their use for all classes of ships and sizes. Otherwise I'm fairly ignorant as to what's useful and what's not.

As I see it it's the difference between a long range missile that launches slower, or a short range one that launches faster but does slightly lower dps per missile.

Torps = Golem, Stealth Bombers, PVP Raven/Phoon

Cruise = PVE Raven and nothing else.

Slightly off topic, but the "correct" way to fit Bombers is generally reguarded to be with Meta4 launchers as they are much easier on CPU. So, technically, you don't *need* Torps 5 or Torp Spec trained at all to fly a good bomber, as you're not using T2 launchers or torps.

Best to train for a Revelation or Moros for dreads.
If for some reason you want a Phoenix, then citadel torps are the way to go.
