Overview questions

OK, so I mostly figured out the overview, its actually pretty simple, just has a ton of options and carries over to d-scan where you can apply different overview tab settings to your scans, which is really nice.

But one thing eludes me and I don't know how to accomplish it, and it is as follows:

When I pick a destination, route, the gates, stations that I need to enter to or dock with, are by default highlighted in yellow. Now for the sake of discussion and this question, lets say I am either in my mission running tab which is set up for Mission and Hostile NPCs and mission objectives, or respectively, unfriendly / neutral players.

So while I am in those tabs, I would like to have my destination point, and only my destination point, NOT its entire category always visible on top. So what happens now, is if I'm in my PVP tab, but I still want the destination jump gate visible, I have that gate + any other unwanted gate visible as well. On top of that, If I sort my opponents by distance from closest to furthest, then all the gates move to the very bottom usually and in larger battle, this gets clunky.

Yes I know I can have different tabs for different things, including one for travel but I would like to have that one pint on currently selected tab.

And here is another question. When I sort by distance on whatever tab I am on, then that sorting method carries over to all my other tabs, where I have to often re-sort things so it becomes usable. I tried saving the tabs to their respective saves etc. reloading them etc. but to no avail. Can't figure out how to stop this from happening.

So if anyone could shed some light on those 2 specific questions it'd be much appreciated.

The idea makes sense and is reasonable, it therefore doesn't exist in EVE nor probably ever will.

You can't stop the sorting from carrying over.

Hmmm

What about the 1st part ? How can I make only the highlighted object, in this case gates or stations highlighted by the destination route, appear in overview without having its entire category ?

I know I can do this with players and NPCs like I have it with my PVP and PVE tabs, that was pretty easy to figure out, but what about objects such as gates, stations, citadels ?

As far as I know you can't separate a single gate or station out of their categories to show in Overview. Best option which everyone should have in their Overview is a 'Travel' tab.

Having your destination gate as the only thing in the overview is a quick way to limit your situational awareness.

Best to have a travel overview with a good selection of GTFO warp-outs, rats and reds/nuets...
That way you maintain awareness of your surroundings and aren't reminded to warp to the next gate by the scream of a Hull alarm.

If your fighting fair you have automatically put yourself at a disadvantage.

There is no way to do this. The only ways to filter objects from the Overview are by Type (Gate, Station, ect) and by various statuses, which Gates and Stations do not have being entirely neutral objects.

Personally I'd either just use a Travel tab or add the relevant bits to the overview, since if you sort by Distance the objects will end up all at the bottom generally being millions of KM or 1 AU or more away.

If you have a route planned, and if all you do is select the "yellow" gate and hit warp and jump, when you load grid in the new system the next "yellow" item is pre-selected (I'm pretty sure this happens)...

All you have to do it hit warp and jump again.

I think this is how it behaves

Mate you only switch to travel to click a gate and hit Jump before moving back to whatever Hostiles / Rats / General tab you should be on for fighting or survival. The whole point of having a Travel tab on the overview is so it's not cluttered with "GTFO warp-outs, rats and reds/nuets". Those all should have their own tab.

It's how it should behave. For some reason it seems to fail to select the next gate about 5% or 10% of the time., so always check. Apart from this element of CCP randomness you are correct.

A combat tab without gates will obfuscate target locations when you are dscanning.
