Ship-Mounted Explosives.

Ever wanted to put on a fireworks show using your own hull as fireworks?

With ship mounted explosives, you wouldn't need to use 'self destruct buttons', or mines, or added help. Heck, you could even wipe out those guys harrying your freighter buddy! (And probably wipe your freighter buddy out in the process, but that's just small print.)

Seriously. It's not rocket science. Activate these one-time-use modules and both you and everyone in the area around you take damage that falls off the further away you are. Use enough and your ship explodes while taking whatever was nearby (Like half of Jita 4-4 for instance.) with you on a one way trip to oblivion.

You know, like that awkward bus ride that you had to take with random people against your will because your employer had budget cuts.

Anyway, we need these - because the world just can't have enough explosions. (I say this completely hypocritically - but usually I don't intend to end up as a pile of scrap...)

Seriously - someone add these. They'd be fun.

It's serious and not at the same time.

But seriously, who wouldn't like blowing up all those scummy gankers in your decoy freighter?

I kinda like the idea of a Kamikaze module. Activate it, and the next time you bump a ship or structure, it goes off and explodes your ship. (not usable in high sec)

As for applied damage, there should probably be impact damage and explosion damage. Impact damage is dependent upon relative speed of the impact and mass of your ship. AOE Explosion will act much like a bomb, with a radius dependent upon the current signature of your ship (5X maybe?) and maybe deals damage dependent upon the remaining capacitor within the ship's system. (1/10 maybe?) or calculated from a combination of remaining Shield, Armor, Hull, and Capacitor.

The main thing with suiciding, is that it has to be fairly difficult to pull off. Otherwise it just becomes a kill denial mechanic, rather than a strategic combat one, so there has to be more to it than just lighting yourself up in the middle of a field of enemies. It would probably require at least a 10 second countdown to arm, and a visual glowing cue to warn your enemies of your intent.

My que would be the signature size of that frigate becoming that of a battleship.

Lol there should also be a way to force a detonation after arming without nudging someone - so you can explode and get ppl who can keep at range on you well. You should also explode after arming if you warp, go too fast (above your ship's ordinary max speed) or take a certain amount of damage in a second.

Do you really think freighter pilots would use this more than gankers?

No. But it's fun to think of such things.

Though there's one thing for sure:

The ensuing chain explosion certainly would be worth watching.
