EVE Online Weapon line of fire

Is it possible the physics engine that supports EVE to incorporate line of fire effect, like collateral damage to other vessels instead of its intended target .

The reason being is the use of tactical defense using obstructions of various kinds in the environment of the battlefield.

It's been proposed, the answer is no. Even if the engine could support it the number of line of sight calculations required for large fleet battles would add way too much sever load for very little benefit.

Rather than making calculations for one ship shooting another you'd be asking the server to make checks for every ship in the area and then calculate the shot. And that has to be done for each and every shot.

Imagine a fight with a thousand ships. Every shot being checked against every ship on grid.
