A hint for you if you want to still be lazy with drones.

Remote sensor booster.

It's not a catch-all... but if you are running a mission where new rats don't spawn until after the current wave is completely wiped out, this will keep aggro on your ship rather than your drones the whole time. Has a long range and doesn't use much in the way of cap.

In many sansha anomalies you can wait for aggro from the first wave, push out your heavies, target one with a sensor booster and then have them attack the first target... and they'll kill everything while you semi-afk and watch netflix.

Sentries also work well as you're most likely right next to them anyway. You can simply scoop and redeploy when one starts taking damage to break their target lock. Plus often it's a benefit if they're attacking sentries at range due to them likely having a smaller sig than your ship. Essentially it's "drone tanking".

Use a drone boat with a big enough drone bay & pack all kinds of drones inside that bay. Use whatever drone is best (damage, size) in that specific situation. I am too lazy to fly back to stations to get another set of drones. So I'm always carrying a selection of drones with me. Just have to be careful not to loose too many. (that lazy thing...)

On my Rattlesnake I use sentry drones, which I select for their range, not damage type. After those I carry lights and meds just in case I need to deal with a scram frig or two, but rarely ever need to deploy those.
