Minmatar nationalism will bring me...victory?

I'm fairly new and I was planning on flying minmatar ships (yay nationalism) but I'm running into problems with what ships I should be flying.

I've been using missile ships to do anoms, but they all seem to have relatively low damage. Is there something I'm missing? Currently I'm using a breacher with light missiles and explosive/kinetic hardeners, but it seems like I'm not killing things very fast. Am I bad, or do I need

Nothing wrong with light missiles. Bear in mind that they travel in a curved arc so, if you are engaging at maximum range, they may not reach the target. You can basically double your dps with a Talwar. Make sure you are using the proper ammunition for your opponent. Against Angel Cartel you want Nova or Scourge missiles. A ballistic control will also make a difference.

At the cruiser level, a Bellicose or Scythe Fleet Issue with rapid light missile launchers and a squadron of light drones will make short work of level 2 missions.

If you want more DPS you could try rockets instead. You are never going to be killing stuff fast with Light Missile Launchers (unless you put a Rapid in front of that).

The breacher is a fine boat. Remember to use drones as well.

You should post your specific fit if you want better feedback on that. You can export it from ingame and paste it here.

This is what I could come up with in pyfa as I don't fly Minmatar much.

Kin/Exp resists are a little lower (74/78 compared to 77/86 with perfect skills) but EHP is more than double your fit giving a good bit more breathing room for mistakes. Replace the T2 with T1 equivalents if you don't have the skills for them yet. The faction shield extender is not expensive and worth the cost.

Thanks for the fit!

I'm a little too noob to make that fit work though. I tried going meta on the shield extender, shield booster, and invulnerability field and I didn't have enough powergrid to fit it with my current skills (barely had enough CPU to make the fit work). I have avoided going with active hardeners because my capacitor skills aren't great either, which allows me to fill my cap up before I burn it down when I get a new wave.

It does give me some things to think about though, thank you very much.

I hate to hijack my own thread, but I don't want to make another thread to ask another question.

I was looking at the cyclone as an upgrade goal because it seems a lot like the breacher (in bonuses at least), but I can't figure out what to do with the 2 extra high slots. Most of the normal battlecruisers (not the ones that fit the large guns) have 1 spare high slot for command boosts, but I can't figure out what is suppose to go in the 2nd extra high slot for the cyclone. I can fit 2 guns, but are you really suppose to put a single turret in there?

called utility slot.
neut,nos, smartbomb, etc etc depending on the situation

may i suggest you to join some corp and let vets teach you :)
it's easier to learn eve that way :)
