http://www.theverge.com/2014/2/24/5441866/eve-offline-how-do-you-archive-a-universe is the only reference I can locate. I would love to get a copy of this software.

I highly doubt that software is or ever will be available publicly while Eve is still running.

Just for a start the intel contained in that backup data would be massively compromising for every null org in the game.

Didn't want any of the player data. I'm a collector, was more interested in saving a piece of history locked away in my vault.

Sure, but if you got access to it, others would as well. That's a gripe that I have with many questions and ideas that come up on these forums. Just stop and think for a moment what this thing you are asking for would mean for other players and other aspects of the game you may not be interested in.

Another problem I see with this particular idea is, that this Eve in a Box probably contains significant bits of the server code. I reckon CCP would not want to just give that away.
