These discussions will involve numerous discoveries made regarding real exo-planets as well as discoveries made in New Eden.


Why Mars lost its atmosphere and why a planet like Earth exists.

If you watch the video at 9:03 you can see that the magnetic field creates peaks and valleys like a mountain does. Mountains and valleys break up wind patterns as well as redistributing heat across the surface of the planet that is generated by the Sun. Without mountains and valleys the heat from the Sun would simply roll across the surface of the Earth evenly and without any variance that would not promote life evolving systems to have to adapt to a changing climate in order to survive. Basically less work is present for a life evolving system. Why need or create a tin foil hat when you don't have any arms? The magnetic lines of Earth function similar to the mountains and valleys of Earth and break up and swirl around particles from the Sun that collide together forming other particles as well as heat that keeps the space around the Earth warmer than most would think it would be.

Since Earth has an active core the Earth is constantly changing its form even though we might notice, every new edge, crevice or peak that the Earth creates on the surface equates to a new magnetic field projection within the magnetic field of the Earth.

So for a planet like Earth to exist and life present on Earth the core of the planet would need to be active with volcanoes dramatically erupting every few thousand years with constant smaller volcanic and surface geo-thermal vents shaping the surface of the Earth on a daily basis to ensure the magnetic field is constantly rotating its modulation.

A planet might have an active core but if only small volcanic eruptions taking place then the height of the magnetic fields translated from the height of the mountains would be smaller overall and with less plate tectonic movement, even only at a millimeter year, the modulation of the magnetic field would be smaller and less varied that would allow solar wind erosion to build up in certain areas leading to an eventual dried up planet like Mars.

Do you have a point you're trying to make? It's called the 'Goldilocks Zone' for a planet to orbit a star and have earth-like characteristics. It does not have to be a planet, though, a satellite will suffice.

We know where a few are. The closest is Alpha Centauri, and we're not terribly sure of the composition of the planet, though. It's in the right 'zone,' and could, in theory, support life.

Nice to have a jupiter in system as well

Most of these exo planets that the media say we can live on are a lot bigger than earth. you could land on it but you might weight 400 pounds on a 200 pound body
