We all know the biggest pain when dealing with the overview is the brackets. Add/Removing them in space the same way we can for overview objects would help this a lot.

This could be helpful, you're right. Honestly though your overview should be set up long before you're out having to change it on the fly, it only takes a few minutes or you can literally import somebody else's. I'm not sure it was meant to be quickly edited on the go

Err...Can you explain how right click -> hide all brackets is different enough from click the button -> hide all brackets to justify any actual time being spent on it? You're talking about saving maybe a fraction of a second of moving your mouse to your overview...

Because I want to remove the Sun and Belts from my brackets without having to spend half an hour messing with the overview.

Hide All is not the same Hide Specific Brackets which you cannot do without loading your brackets settings as an overview.

I would very much welcome this option. Would make it so much easier to hide something like drones, fighters, friendlies and so on.

Oh, okay.

You're still saving one click in total though, assuming you actually bothered to set up or import a proper overview at any point.
Button -> Overview settings -> bracket preset is really not hard either.

Button > Overview Settings > Load Brackets as Overview > Scroll through the states and/or visibility settings to find what you are looking for > Change settings > Load actual overview back in > Save. Fixed it for you.

I don't know what settings you're looking at, friend. Might be because I already have a nice pile of overview settings to use already, but hiding the asteroid belt brackets (I don't know why you'd hide the sun bracket though) as the OP suggested was as simple as button-> settings -> pick a relevant overview setting from the bracket presets dropdown for me.

Might need to open the overview tabs section of the overview settings menu, I guess. You could probably call this a reward for having your overview set up just the way you like it, which is not something you want to be doing in the middle of a fight, but it's not like it's hard to borrow one from somebody if you're on a brand new install or something.

With dozens of preset brackets and the flaky-jumpy UI when you try to select something from a dozens of entries long drop down menu? The overview is setup properly, but special circumstances require special adjustments. Your counter-suggestion would hold merit if the overview window would only show overview settings in the Overview dropdown menus and Brackets in the Brackets drop down menus, but as long as they both show up in both drop down columns, it's a bloody mess to do anything there.
