Out of Game Events and Gatherings

So…
As many of us know, Fanfest is drawing closer and it’s just over a month away (CCP better be ready for us crazy players)

Since the rise of Alpha Clones, I fully expect that there is the potential for a larger attendance rate this year at Fanfest, and many new Fanfest virgins who will be coming for their very first time.
The introduction of Alpha Clones has also brought a younger range of players to the game as well, and some of them may be coming to Fanfest this year to party with us.

Now try and keep in mind that they may be first time flyers, or even their first time travelling abroad.
They may even be travelling alone, and may not be meeting any EVE friends when they arrive in Reykjavik (because sadly they’re not coming).
Therefore, there may be some nervous, apprehensive, and anxious players who could be coming to Fanfest this year.

I would like to propose an idea.
An idea, in the goodwill and spirit of EVE.
We may be total bastards to each other in the game.
But outside of the game, we are one big family.

I ask each and every Fanfest attendee this year, who is confident about travelling, and confident because they have friends waiting for them at Fanfest, to take these guys under their wing.
Allow them to join with you and your friends, and make new friends (and perhaps new allies or corp/alliance friends) in the process.


So, if you’re waiting for your flight to depart, and you happen to see someone who you believe is on their way to Fanfest, approach them and say hi o7

ive been to a few fanfests myself and yes we are total bastards to each other but at the fanfest everybody is a friend. you can actually walk up to any nerd and just hang with em they totally love talking about eve and most of us are nerds out of game too be it IT specialists or engineers some scientists hell we even have our very own space pope from NASA.

most of us don't really have peers outside of our workplace and the people at fanfest not only are fellow spaceship nerds but many are nerds in life and lets face it having to explain why some screwup is funny from IT or engineering perspective in laymen terms never works. these are our people and speak our language. walk up to them and talk this is one of the few events where everyone actually is a friend.

you don't need to ask spaceship nerds to do this they always do.
