Fanfest Football 2017.

Greetings.

I am currently looking into the possibility of creating a football event for Fanfest this year. We have done this twice in the past now, first with a full sized 11 v 11 setup, and the second time a smaller 6 v 6 game at an indoor handball court. We feel that both had their pros and cons, which will be taken into consideration in the planning phase this year.

The planning is still in the very early stages and nothing is set in stone just yet.

Before I start deciding on the scale of this event, I wanted to gauge the interest from you fine Capsuleers on the matter. If you could take the time to answer some questions I have, then this will give me a lot to work with.


  • Would you be interested in participating this year?
  • Have you previously participated?
  • If you did participate in the past, what did you like? What didn't you like?
  • Would you prefer a full scale, half size, or quarter size pitch?
  • Would you like to have a spectator crowd?
  • Would you prefer Devs vs. Players, or a mixed team?
  • Any other opinions on the matter?


As I said, very early stages of planning going on here, and your feedback is greatly appreciated. I'll of course provide more information as it becomes relevant, so if you are interested in participating, you may wish to watch this space!

    • Yes

    • No
  • Would you prefer a full scale, half size, or quarter size pitch?
    • Assuming we have 22+ willing people, full size for sure
  • Would you prefer Devs vs. Players, or a mixed team?
    • Devs vs Players is more marketable, so more chance of getting 11+ players
  • Would you like to have a spectator crowd?
    • Only if the Dev team doesn't mind being embarrassed in front of said crowd when the score hits 10+ ;)
  • Any other opinions on the matter?
    • Losing team should have a forfeit of some kind (fun one ofc)

Doesnt matter

I won;t be playing, but i can give you some info:

The 11 vs 11 was much easier to find and watch, the other 6 on 6 the wife and i got lost trying to find it (also was i think better to have it tin the evening then the middle of the day, but as we got there when the last match was over..)

My father in law is a huge soccer fan, and as he is coming, he'd at least enjoy watching. (not sure about playing but i can ask him)

Btw no Puck this year? Is he still down for not winning the speed contest two years in a row?

    • Maybe, depends on when it's planned in.

    • Yes both times

    • - I didn't like the overconfidence the first year around, thank god there was a lot of beer involved to forget the details.
    + I liked the spectators the first year.

    - The lack of structure during the games especially timing wise.
    + I liked the mixed teams the second year

  • Would you prefer a full scale, half size, or quarter size pitch?
    • The right pitch for the right amount of people

  • Would you like to have a spectator crowd?
    • yes

  • Would you prefer Devs vs. Players, or a mixed team?
    • Mixed! I had a lot of fun with the things being mixed up. It balanced out the poor fitness and the lack of ever having played together as a team.

  • Any other opinions on the matter?
    • Only way devs vs players is going to work is when the devs need to drink a shot every time they score a goal

Hey guys,

Just a quick update. Given the circumstances, Fanfest football will regrettably not happen this year. However this is an option which can always be explored in the future.
