Seriously, for the people who think I'm actually trolling, grow up. This is an issue that has been brought up before which would dramatically improve this game.

The simple fact that people require alts to play this game is an indication of the failure of the design of the basic mechanics in the first place, but banning the alts would at least make the game much more fun.

In actuality, it was a pretty genius business decision by CCP to make it so people would want alts. Look all the extra income they get from them. Lol It's not a failure of game design at all.

Right, I'm sure you could say a lot about many of EA's decisions in their games also, it doesn't mean it makes the games any better, in fact for many of them it makes them much worse...

EVE's got 99 problems, paid alt accounts ain't one of them.

There's a million angry citizens looking down their tubes..at me.

No. Let me elaborate.

1. It's been 8 years already since Eve Online got started. By this time, so many people will have trained so many alts that it's become ingrained into our culture here in New Eden.

2. How will CCP be able to decide which character in an account with all three slots filled is to be biomassed?

3. Even if the two weakest characters in a three-character account are chosen, what happens to the skill points that were invested in those accounts?

4. If they re-allocate to the main character, and the invested skill points are plenty, then the main character will be souped up like a mofo (instant supercap pilot anyone?).

5. What happens to the character bazaar? Wouldn't that disappear as no one will be able to trade away their alts for ISK? Although, I'm not sure if that's a good thing or a bad thing (that's for another debate).

6. Supercap pilots will either disappear, which is bad for the alliances as they will lose important pilots, or they could become the account holder's only character, which is worse because supercap characters are meant to be forever trapped in a Titan.

I play without alts myself, I had 3 accounts in the past but I sold them, I miss them, but I actually enjoy the game more without them.

I don't care if others have more alts, as not depending on others 100% is great :b... but the majority of eve uses alts, and if ccp banned them, properly most of eves active accounts would be gone = bad for ccp

Supercap nerf - change ewar immunity https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&t=194759 Module activation delay! https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&m=1180934

Yes, because banning over half the active accounts ingame would be a great idea.

With ideas like these, I don't see how you're not running a major corporation irl.

Mineral demand will go down, supply will go up, prices go down = bad for miners. Don't forget that nullsec alliances rely on high-sec markets for supplies.

Ban the alts. Just imagine, cap ships would finally need to be a multiplayer affair (no more cyno alts). People wouldn't be able to leave an out of corp alt on gates to scout them in high sec. No more RR alts that people carry around with them to repair their ship, they would either have to get someone else to do it for them or go it alone.

So many things in this game would change for the better. And for the record, yes, this is my main, my only character, and I have never, nor will I ever, use an alt or a second account.

If by "fix" you mean absofuckinglutely destroy, then yes, that would fix EvE.

We all need multiple clients opened simultaneously, after all it is mmo. It really does matter if one player has more than one client open at same time, you hardly can focus to this 100% with all clients at same time so it is more efficient to use only one on active battle and to have real persons to play other roles in fight.

So if you have problems with guys who use more than one client in fight means that yours players without alts need more training or more numbers.

I bet you made whole thread about this just because you want to play alone and when you play alone you can not kill guys who use alts as scouts etc...

Unrealistic? Who cares. It would make the game SO much better if it happened.

What, finding ideas to make the game better? I know, shame on me.

Although, call me crazy... and I could be wrong... but I don't remember any WoW players using multiple accounts simultaneously when they play WoW.... and that game is a lot more popular than Eve.... hmmmm, maybe forcing players to use multiple accounts isn't a perfect idea financially after all...

Doesn't mean it doesn't need changing.

Let the player decide? It's not that complicated... although this was more centered on using multiple characters at once, and I don't believe you can do that on one account... so.... yeah....

Quote:

3. Even if the two weakest characters in a three-character account are chosen, what happens to the skill points that were invested in those accounts?

Erm.... again see my previous answer, it's a moot point, really. I couldn't care less if all 3 character slots were deleted though, just put it into the character you choose to keep for skills that don't overlap and let it stay there. No time lost since you can only train one character on an account at a time
Quote:

4. If they re-allocate to the main character, and the invested skill points are plenty, then the main character will be souped up like a mofo (instant supercap pilot anyone?).

Most people typically have different characters to perform different tasks, so this is another moot point. If one character has a lot of SP because they trained it up on different characters in one account, then there's really not a huge difference since now they'll have one character who can scam, do industry, and PvP all at the same time. No loss.

Just see my previous answer about this being more about this being for people who use characters simultaneously. I really don't care if it goes away or not though.

Yeah, as people have previously said, the loss of supercaps isn't much of a loss :P

Using alts is not alternative to have good actual player team, mostly people uses alts for jobs that are not so important or to do something else when another character is stuck somehow on some other job.

Are you willing to use your main with cyno ship to wait example 3 hours to get good window to jump your friends hauling cap trough some system?

I'm well aware that it isn't an alternative, but it still happens a LOT and it is better than going solo. People use it for more than just mundane tasks.

I wouldn't use a cap ship in the first place, but if I did, I would expect to have support for it before I take it out.
