I am wanting to get into blockade running. I have been playing the game for a month or so. Someone suggested to me that I go up to the Great Wildlands and do courier quests. Could anyone give me some advice here.

Thank you

It's been quite a while since I cruised The Great Wildlands. I believe the area is still patrolled by the Russian Community and from my experience they love to hunt. Years ago I spent 2 weeks there in a Force Recon Cruiser playing 'Cat & Mouse' with them. Of course I was the mouse and they nearly caught me a few times. Was a great learning experience for me on how to navigate and survive without being able to dock up.

As for running Courier Contracts, I suggest doing some google research on how to recognize scam contracts. Also get some experience on making Safe Spots and working with D-Scan and definitely learn how Bubble Camps operate.

Good luck to you.

NPC distribution missions are available from Trust Partners agents in N-DQ0D. Most of these will be short runs to M-MD3BB or E02-IK. Those are the only stations in the region. Do not accept player courier contracts to/from citadels or ECs. You probably won't be able to dock.

Biggest threat to a blockade runner are bubbles - never warp gate-to-gate or gate-to-station. Use an interceptor to create bookmarks that let you see the gate (or station) and approach it from an unusual angle. Also make insta-dock and un-dock bookmarks at the stations.

These are level 2 & 3 missions - not a road to riches and the risk of losing your ship is high, even with precautions.

You will need standing with Thukker Tribe to run the missions and that means running a bunch of low level missions in high or lowsec - search for them using the in-game agent finder http://wiki.eveuniversity.org/Agent_Finder or http://eve-agents.com/

Once you have standing with Thukker you are probably better off running level 4 distribution missions out of Tokubad. Quick and easy with a blockade runner and basically risk free.

Do train Distribution Connections skill and Negotiation for running Distribution missions.

Thukker loyalty points are quite valuable. Use them to buy Nomad implants or faction modules.

I got my null sec start in Great Wildlands and am quite fond of the region. It's been a while since I spent significant time there. It's not very busy, but several corporations patrol it vigorously. There was usually a gate camp between Khabi and 7Q-8Z2 with warp disruption bubbles. Sometimes they liked to camp 8YC-AN and drop a few bubbles there to change things up. They have toons parked in the low sec systems leading in preparing to observe incoming traffic. The market's dead there, so anything you need to operate you need to figure out how to bring it in. I went in with a covert ops and kept pecking for WH routes in to get my ships/stuff in. Taking time to go through each system you frequent there and bookmark safe spots helps a ton, as well as getting bookmarks for 150-160km off the gates/station so you can see whats there before you land will help. I took a few weeks to mark up every system in the region, which was tedious, but it helped save my bacon more times than I can count.

I'm not at all familiar with blockade runner quests, but i found that the sweet spot there was data/relic sites. After you get several jumps away from the stations in the region, those pipes are usually dead, which makes for some easy pickin'. Since the stations are all clustered together, that cuts down on the traffic moving through those pipes. You can even wander into SOV space... scanning areas of space controlled by alliances that work in different time zones is easy pickin' too. I made some extra ISK manufacturing and selling rigs there, since I had lots of salvage from relic sites and didn't need to haul in minerals to build, but the market really is quite quiet.

If you operate there a while, you might be able to formally buddy up with the usual suspects that patrol that area so (hopefully) they won't bother you while you run those quests.

I just double checked to confirm what I remembered.

There are very few NPC stations in Wildlands (4), and they are all clustered together.

I strongly advise against your course of action. Not only will you have to bypass possible gatecamps on entry/exit, but you will have to face the players that operate out of those clustered NPC stations.

Unless Im overlooking something, I find this a very bad suggestion and choice.

If you want to operate in Wildlands solo, focus instead on relic/combat sigs or anoms.

If you arent a threat to locals, dont **** them off, or are flying something tasty, they will largely leave you alone as long as you dont bother them or interfere with them.
