Press Release – Red Vs Blue

13th February 2017 – FOR IMMEADIATE USE

RvB moves ‘home’ – tools up for MAJOR WAR

Red Vs Blue (RvB) - one of the biggest names in Eve, has returned to its former home in The Forge and is deploying assets for a major war effort against one of the biggest alliances in the game.

Following a near-death experience in 2015 RvB has been under new management, growing in size and restoring “formal operations”. The move back to Otela and Liekuri has greatly boosted activity levels.

Clashes with old foes like Eve University and the Marmite Collective have whetted the appetite of the membership for more big fleet mayhem so RvB Command is prepping for its biggest war effort yet.

RvB Chairman Vision Thing Achasse explains:

“We can compete with anyone, we gave Eve Uni a pasting and Marmite ran away from us. Hear this loud and clear, we are back home and ready to rumble”

RvB is keeping details of its “Spring War Campaign” a secret for now but is calling on purple warriors old and new to move assets to the home systems and daub their faces with the traditional red and blue face paint.

Rumours abound that RvB is also about to launch a major PvP website initiaitve in 2017 and a 50 BILLION ISK PvP competition to celebrate reaching the milestone of 1 million kills.

Background:

RvB is one of the oldest and largest PvP brands in Eve. Every tenth kill in the game has involved RvB members.

The ‘Eternal War’ rages between two corporations – Red Federation and Blue Republic who struggle for supremacy in the longest and bloodiest war in Eve.

RvB will shortly celebrate a million kills to a value of over 35 trillion ISK.

Membership Of RvB is open to all – free ships are provided every week and insurance reimbursed at arranged brawls. A special effort is made to support players new to PvP and alpha clones.

Outgoing command members controversially sent press releases announcing the end of “formal operations” in October 2015 – however a new command group formed within days to take the alliance forward and there has been little pause in the cheap fun PvP action.

Is the new team just going to use new players to farm kills too?

Hey let's sell RvB members as a mercenary force for a few thousand bucks ^^

I wasn't even subbed when that happened - a decision that had nothing to do with anyone in the current team.

Perhaps we can drift towards the end of the pearl clutching period now? (it was years ago...)

I honestly think RvB was hijacked by nullsec interests, they were cleaning out POCOS for months which made no sense also the Jasper guy is in goons

I wasn't around when the joint war dec with goons occured.

Jasper was nothing to do with it I promise you - he is one of the nicest cat lovers in Eve.

The POCO's were just to bring in some ISK. The FC rewards program cost a fortune and its not like RvB has null sec assets to farm for an income.

Biggest problem with the POCO's was that it was just so....BORING!

Never on my watch.

RVB has given a lot of us some really great times. Perfect stepping stone for people who've kind of mastered EVE's pve intro, and are looking for some low-commitment pvp.

A reputation earned is a reputation that sticks.

No need to get all butthurt about it. Full disclosure is not a bad thing.

RvB's reputation was damaged IMO by that incident - but its overall standing in the game comes from its community, a group of people that Eve should be proud of.

Hope the move and the war goes well, great community in RvB, but as with any group you do get a few bad apples.

Enjoyed my time there and would recommend to anyone to give it a try sometime.

A few thoughts from a poor fool who's been there and done that till real life left me with little time to do much more than mine and post when at work...

Look, PvP requires income. Even if you opt for frigates, a T2 fitted one with Rigs costs between 5 and 12 mil isk. Now lose 10 of those per day because well, that is what you do in RvB; fight, have fun, and lose ships. And RvB leadership has always tried to find ways to reduce this isk burden on PvP.

Now lacking a low/nul sec space, RvB has always struggled with finding income. There were never any moons, no good ratting space, and it was tough. We did gain a huge boon and support from donations. Always much thanks to those who did donate. Still, constantly begging for donations isn't the best way forward. This especially true when trying to cover entry fees for alliance tournaments and such. So past leadership was creative...

Prior to POCOs going public, we tried a stint at Merc POS bashing. Why... It was easy money and we had the people. There were no CTAs but it was fun. We could hold an event, bash a POS and have a little time where both sides were in comms building a little commradery while RvB made money for operation expenses. Why that would bother people (unless it was their POS we were hired to remove), I don't know.

As for Goon war... The only one I recall was prior to a Burn Jita. Here's a little secret... RvB likes to kill things. At the time, a ton of groups were deccing goons. We knew full well that the goons would be going suspect while they ganked, so would be free kills. We could have decced goons too but that would cost 1 bil and that's a lot of free ships we could use else where. Do instead, we allied with the goons. We weren't blue to goons and could shoot them whenever they went suspect, plus we gained tons of other targets. So basically, we chose the course of action that could get the most targets with the least cost for us. Not sure why people don't understand the concept.

POCOs... Those were great. A lot of members donated time and isk to setup the empire we had. For a year they covered a free battlecruiser hull event each week plus an FC store that gave billions back to RvB members. Yes we need to defend the POCOs at times but so be it. Eventually we couldn't and hit a snag.

Since that snag, the current leadership worked very hard to build RvB back up. They had to prove they were worth giving the keys to, which sucked. Heck, they still may be screwed on alliance tourney skins they earned because of the awkward transition. A lot of that time sucked as we struggled. Yet we made it. RvB is recovering. It's no different than a nul or low sec group losing a home and rebuilding. The new management is working hard. They deserve props for all they do, especially in a game like EVE when the masses can be so fickle, demanding, and act all entitled without wanting to put the effort in.

So props to RvB. Props to Vision, Nik, Miri, Nitro, and a ton of others. They worked hard to keep a great thing going. For that much respect. I hope someday, when my real life settles, to return to the fray and enjoy the tea pot war under their leadership. And until then, all I can say is my thanks to them for the work and effort they do put in.

And for all who gripe, complain, are bitter, and hope on the lame conspiracy bandwagons, you try to herd such a crazy eclectic collection of cats that is RvB. It's hard and I doubt any of you would do as well as these folks have.

So RvB is returning to its roots? I might have to retask an alt for that, I enjoyed my time in RvB years ago.
