PSA: Burn Jita - IT HAS BEGUN

Update: Burn Jita has Begun...

For those Alphas and Omegas new to the game, this is just to let you know about a time-honored Goon tradition that happens roughly every year around this time: The ganking of anything and everything in the Jita star system. "Burn Jita" typically runs for a weekend, starting late Friday and even extending until the wee hours on Monday. More often than not combat spills out to several outlying systems as well, with gankers preying upon ships stalled out at closed stargates to JIta.

To maximize on the level of suffering and 'lols', you can expect a minimum (if any) advance notice or leak of when in February this will occur. The only recourse is to basically avoid Jita as you will be facing hundreds and hundreds of players intent on your destruction - whether or not your ship or cargo is anything of value. The whole thing is basically one large Gong (or Goon) Show.

I am currently away, traveling through time and will be returning last week.

I applaud your effort, but I assure you - if we thought that players actually read and heeded a warning like this, we would have put one up ourselves. Security first is our motto!

Unfortunately, our experiences from years prior have shown that all efforts in that regard are fruitless.

If Goonswarm actually posted a PSA no one would be able to take it at face value. I'm not saying that all Goons are pathological liars, but you're all pathological and can't be trusted further than anyone can shoot you.

CCP once put a warning about Burn Jita on the logon screen for some days preceding the event, it got ignored and feckless fools in freighters flocked to the killing fields like moths to a flame, then whined when they exploded.

TL;DR people are dumb.

In the beginning there was nothing, which exploded.

It needs to be told though that it's roughly 1% of all the passing ships gets blown actually when 'Burn Jita' events occur.... Most of players do not even notice this event.

They always announce it before, as they have for this year.

It makes the losses even funnier and if people can't take that sort of announcement at face value, then I'm sure they'll learn they should have, if they decide to take a hauler into or near Jita when it's on.
