Base Item Cost during ME/PE Research

I'm researching a Wyvern BPO from ME 7 -> 8 in a null sec Sotoyo with a t1 research rig installed.

A wyvern BPO from NPCs costs 18B flat.
A wyvern costs about as much to build depending on location and metrics.

Why is it that the Base Item Cost appears as almost 83 Billion isk in value? The BPO does not cost this much, and neither does the ship. Bug? Or intended?

Thanks in advance for any info on what seems to be a massive error in pricing.

There's a multiplier for each level of ME research.

For 7->8 it's 5251/21 (around 250)

The base cost is around 16 billion.

As it's a blueprint research job, there's a 0.02 multiplier on that. Which comes out at around the value you're seeing.

How are those numbers derived? Is that consistant for all ME 7->8 jobs? Is there a list of the multipliers for each increase in ME/PE?

And since you are on the CSM<3... purely for clarity's sake, wouldn't it be much less confusing to show the actual base cost (18B from NPC's) and then show the ME 7->8 multiplier thing separately? Cause otherwise, you are essentially saying that this ME 7 BPO is actually worth 83billion isk... which doesn't seem likely lol.

The multipliers are:
1,29/21,23/7,39/5,278/15,928/21,2200/21,5251/21,4163/7,29660/21

And come from one of the dev blogs on the industry revamp. They're consistent for all ME/TE jobs. going from 0 to 10 is, basically, one of each level.

I _suspect_ the reason it's not been done that way, is because it'd be a total PITA to show multi level research jobs, in a way which actually made sense? I'll raise it, but I suspect unless someone comes up with a simple solution, it won't be touched soon.
