I think that having to train an alt gives old players empathy for new players. Granted, the new character has many advantages if it is an alt, but it still has to go through the learning process that a new main goes through. Yes the main can bank-roll the alt, but the alt still has to struggle to make ISK (to prove its viability) just like a new character.

Also, if you were smart, you would have gotten a cerebral accelerator, some implants, and the free remap. That cuts out a lot of training time.
