Hi all!

I was wondering if a mining insurance company would work. Now, if you are familiar with minerbumping.com you will probably know that there is a group that extorts ISK from miners, and in most cases blows them up anyways. I visit the site daily for the giggles.

So i came up with the idea of creating an insurance company. Instead of paying 10 mil for a permit you could buy a monthly insurance for your character, and if your mining ships gets blown up, you receive money. I have not mined for a long time so i am curious if a miner would acutally consider to use that kind of insurance.

Maybe this service could also be available to freighter pilots?
What do you guys think?

If you buy platinum insurance for a retriever or procurer, you can recover the cost of that ship in a couple of hours mining. Your best insurance beyond that is a decently tanked Procurer. It is not high on a gankers list of preferred targets. As a miner, you also have choices of where to mine - gankers tend to congregate where there is a lot of prey so stay away from ice systems and a few jumps from trade hubs and you'll rarely see them.

Freighters work differently - they will almost always be travelling between trade hubs and gankers will be waiting at the choke points. Insurance is available if you work for a hauling corporation - i.e. White Frog Insurance covering both hull and collateral. Collateral coverage would be a problem for private insurance and I don't see freighter pilots being too interested unless the insurance included it.
